I found this online via Google search:

http://www.bestbuybusiness.com/bbfb/en/US/pdf/BBY_DRC_credit_app.pdf

Is this the correct one as it says HSBC. I know Capital One has purchased all of the HSBC retail accounts.

How do you obtain an application for the Best Buy commerical credit card ?

This is the link for the Net 30 commercial account that Best Buy uses since HSBC sold their accounts to CapOne:

http://www.bestbuybusiness.com/bbfb/en/US/adirect/bestbuy?cmd=BBFBCreditInfo

Actually, this program has been in effect for awhile. Don't be intimidated by the length of the application, they approve accounts fairly easily if you have a decent DNB file!

Good to know that they approve fairly easily. Just sucks that it's a net 30!

Yeah, I know, it definitely sucks...the funny thing is that our old HSBC Commercial Revolving Best Buy account is still showing $12,5000.00 of available credit on the Capital One website but obviously we have not been able to use it for quite awhile. Under the new program, we are nowhere near that credit limit, but since it is Net 30, it really doesn't matter! I really miss HSBC Retail Credit, they were pretty bad in many areas but they were generous with credit lines!

A business rep contacted me today from Best Buy business to review my credit application. He indicated he would send it to the credit/finance department for processing, and it should take 24 hours for decision. He said he would call me tomorrow afternoon with the decision.

Application was declined. I spoke with underwriting for details and possible reconsideration. No reconsideration. Only option is secured pre-paid account with no review or goal of unsecured.

The underwriter indicated some criterion that is required for consideration for approval:

1) Landline (not wireless even if in business name) in business name

2) Physical commercial address, no home office or remote location

3) Listing with Secretary of State as Corporation or LLC

He indicated they are not "interested" in small business, only large ones.

I remember a certain some one talking about the importance of a landline phone hmmmm..;)

A lot of the accounts we talk about and get approved for are often geared towards larger businesses but don't mind smaller businesses. One thing that is important in biz credit is to make your company have a bigger feel. Things like a landline phone, some one always answering the phone preofessionaly, website, easliy found online, social media, etc.. Even just using PO's gives a bigger and more organized feel.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if the "ONLY" reason why you didn't get approved is because of the landline. I will give them a shot in a month or two and will keep you posted

The cost of a landline phone is not worth it to get a Best Buy account.

No, it has nothing to do with just BB.

Generally speaking, it's more professional to have it. A lot of vendors look to see if you have a landline.

I dissagree :)

I think the only reason he got declined was due to no listing with the SOS. Thats something that most BANKS require to open a checking account for ANY business (If the business is INC'D that is). If I was underwriting and saw no sos listing. I would assume the business was not legit. No disrespect GFT. I am not saying this is your situation. I'm saying this is how an underwritier would look at it, if I was the underwriter. :)

I knew you were going to be in here when I saw one of the declined reasons was no land line! :) I will give you this one ok. I think you did over look the sos thing. This is something that is very important. I don't know how many creditors have verified this information on the phone with me while they were processing my application. I'm sure you know this, But for those who don't, The sos information is something most companies use to verify how long your business has been IN business. Without that..... You know the out come.

I agree with making your business appear to be larger than it is. To both customers and business credit clients.

Of course I was going to chime in on that! ;)..... I do agree with that being listed with the SOS is important although I know wonder how many places actually check it. The reason why is all three of my companies were listed as not in good standing for a short while because I was unaware that NH requires all entities to file annual reports before April even if you started the company a week before. I was use to MA where it was a year from creation date. But within that time I applied for maybe 8 accounts including Circle K which is a WEX card and had no issues and WEX is usually pretty good about checking companies out before approving.

Also I was assuming the SOS wasn't a actual reason of decline for GFT since I'm assuming he has a LLC or Corp.

Same here with the sos in Georgia. I don't know about where you live, But here in Georgia that is the only way to INC. You have to go through the sos to do so. So if he has no listing with the sos then he is not incorporated. He may be a sp business? Maybe he can chime in so I can stop making accusations..... :)

I think that you guys are all on target, when trying to build credit you cannot assume that one criteria is less important than another! You've got to cross the t's and dot the i's so you don't leave anything to chance! You can't skip steps! Sometimes we get lucky and end up getting a merchant to open a credit account without following all of the steps but that is usually the exception to the rule...! That's why following something like ''the simplified new guide to establish business credit" that stroked got started a few years back is crucial when building business credit!

It varies so much by creditor that just having the basics done before applying is enough for some while others what to see more. More could include a website, Facebook page, etc or something as simple as faxing over a EIN letter.

Actually having a website with e-mail addresses should also be a must, especially now that you can build your own website using basic templates from Intuit, GoDaddy.com, etc., and it would cost you $10 bucks a month for maintenance.
