Online travel sites such as expedia, orbitz, etc.. will all have the same published fare. Airlines set the rates, and anywhere you look the price will be the same.

Airlines will also have Dynamic and Bulk fares. These fairs will not come up on online travel sites, however travel agents will have access to these. Airlines do not have these fares on every route, so call a local travel agent to see what is available.

My local agency is Liberty Travel. They deal with dynamic and bulk fares. Give them a call if you don't have anyone near you, their number is 717-620-5617. They're in York, PA but do business nationwide.

For what is worth, I tried using the priceline's name your price and, honestly, it was rather disappointing. I might try again some other time; I was told the sweet spot to make your offer is 70-75% of the airfare value.

Kayak.com will give you all the rates from all the sites.

Buying at certain hours of the day/night may also get you a better rate.

I tend to buy my tickets directly from the airline. Prices were in range with bargain sites and I feel the airlines has more accountability to me in the event of an issue. Had that happen once were I missed my connection due to delays on their end.

I will most likely use the CHase CSP portal thing going forward once I get my card.

I use to be successful with priceline but I tried it for a ski trip and I was disappointed. I was checking for months w/different airlines, I ended up taking a fare from Delta.com. Airline rates are tough, just check directly with the airlines periodically.

So this falls into sites/tips, I guess. I've used a site called Yapta. They will track a flights cost over time when the flight info is entered. This is ok, however IMO, the best part comes when you've bought the flight then enter the flight info for the flight you've already bought. I'll now try to make sense and not be long winded. If you buy a ticket and the price drops, some airlines will refund you the difference from the price you paid. Stipulations are different for different airlines, but I believe for it to work you have to book directly with the airline. Example: The first time I used this site (it's free) I had just paid $119 for a Jetblue flight. I entered the flight info and how much I paid for the ticket. A few days later Yapta emailed telling me the flight dropped to $99. They gave me a phone number and instructions on what to tell Jetblue. I called and Jetblue gave me a $20 travel voucher. So I was hooked; it was super easy. I would suggest checking out the site. They will better explain themselves than I did. May or may not help in your situation. I do not work for or am in no way affiliated with this website. Mods, not sure about the rules, but if I'm wrong to recommend or whatever, sorry and feel free to delete this post.
