Folks,

First off this board is a huge help, I always come here to review questions/answers.

Keep up the great work and I'm in hopes I can also contribute.

I have a question.... I have a "supposed" ole medical bill for a mere 90 bucks wrecking havoc on my credit report that is now PAID in FULL:

CFC (Central Financial Control)

Date of service: 09/2006

What I'm trying to figure out is when is the DLA on this bill, at the day of service on 09/2006 or when CFC reported it to the CRAs on 07/2007?

Needless to say CFC mentions that they notified me of this bill prior to sending it to the CRAs yet I can't find any mail verifying that.

I just want this thing removed and if the DLA is 09/2006 that means it comes off this year (09/2013) right?

Oh well... appreciate any insight you may have.

Thanks,

Texan

I do have a small question however. On these "supposed" medical bills I noticed small stuff like the incorrect "Mailing address", incorrect "SS Number", and even one that appears to be a diag code which I am wondering why would a CA need a diag code??? I found that kind of strange.

NOTE: Just to let you know I requested a copy from the OC for my records a while back

So in my mind I was just going to dispute the CA on the basis that their data being incorrect however I just followed Why Chat's standard dispute process.

Should I have pointed out and disputed the inaccurate info instead? Just some thoughts...

The first step is to dispute the account on your reports. Once that is done, your future steps depend entirely on your results from that dispute.

If you have followed the initial steps and opted out and deleted old addresses and obtained all your REAL reports, then I suggest you carefully examine your reports for alternate SS #s or misspelling of your name or unknown addresses or inquiries.

Be sure to get your MIB report also, especially if you see errors like the ones you described.

Yes... I followed all the steps....

Requested reports

Deleted old addresses (of course Equifax and Transunion deleted all of them per the request... Experian begrudgingly is holding on to four addresses connected to the "supposed" old medical bills)

Sent off for MIB record... they have nothing on file for me

and sent in the initial dispute letter to the CRA

Now I'm just waiting on the response from the CRA to see where I go from there...

Oopppss you are right Why Chat, sorry!

I meant to say I sent all three initial disputes to the Credit Reporting Agencies (Experian, Equifax, Transunion).

Now in sit and wait mode on the response.

Okay... update below on my situation...

1 CA/Medical bill dropped off of Equifax today with the initial dispute steps followed that Why Chat shared, w00t!!!!! (This same bill is also listed with Experian). I have no more medical bills on Equifax... totally done there.

So all I have left is (4) separate paid CA medicals with Experian (totaling around 500 bucks or so) and I'm waiting on Experian's response. My TU reports are clean, no derogs listed with TU.

I hear and expect Experian to be completely stubborn about the initial dispute letters even though the CA accounts have been paid in full for quite awhile and they are totally bonkers in the

first place for sending this through to collections for something I had no clue about.

Thanks Why Chat!!!! Hopefully the Experian dispute goes well....

Great thread, I am working on my opt out letter to hospital now.

I listed myself and other family members with account numbers that have medical claims sent to collections.

Is this correct?

Account Name (my name)/Patient name/account number....Should i enter the account number from hospital billing or the account number that CA is reporting on my credit report?

Thank you, appreciate the help, just want to make sure i do this correctly.

I don't know what you think you are doing, but it is obviously mistaken. The opt out is for CRAs ( Credit Reporting Agencies)

Here is the link to start on your own repairs.

Please start your own thread.

There is NO WAY you can do this as a "family package"

Okay... New update.

I have (4) medical collections on my report for collection. They only appear on Experian no who I can't stand lol....

I completed the following

Opted Out

Deletion of old Address

File the initial dispute as referenced here >>>>http://whychat.5u.com/hipaadisp.html

So..... get this...

TU - No need to move forward.... that credit report is now clean

Equifax - No need to move forward... that credit report is now clean

Experian....

I got (2) responses for them saying "We have already validated this debt......"

The other 2 (remember I have a total of four medical collections) there has been no response to date.

So I guess I'm asking the following

1) Should I start sending out the DV letters for all 4 medical collections to the CA (http://whychat.5u.com/ltrcavalhipaa.html#PAID)

or

2) Should I just go ahead send just (2) that came back with Experian saying "We have already validated this debt.....) (DV link http://whychat.5u.com/ltrcavalhipaa.html#PAID)

You send out the medical DVs to any CAs for any accounts that are still appearing on Ex, no matter what their response was to your initial dispute.

You then send a copy of that medical DV with proof of receipt to Ex with the follow up dispute. In this case, consolidate ALL the accounts into one follow up dispute like this:( Please remember to pluralize the appropriate phrases and words as shown)

http://whychat.5u.com/ltrcavalhipaa.html#DISPUTE

I have no knowledge or records of the following accounts on my report # xxxxx. # xxxxx- from ( name of CA) # xxxxx- from ( name of CA) # xxxxx- from ( name of CA)
I have disputed these unknown medical accounts with these reporting
Collection Agents,( copies enclosed with proof of their receipt),as per
your instructions in your response of xx/xx/xxxx
to my dispute of xx/xx/xxxx and have had no valid response.
Please advise me as to the names and addresses of the health care provider, the name of the patient,
and the reported dates of service,as any accounts I might have had at one time would be obsolete.
If you can obtain this information, I also would need the names of the persons providing this data,
and the manner in which it was provided in order that I may pursue additional legal remedies.

Got it.... Okay composing the letter now and sending off the DV to the CAs this morning.

Onward I go! It still bothers me that these entries are there in the first place as they are totally in error.

Thanks again Why Chat for the advise!

Oh... wanted to include the following update..

About a month ago I got the following back per my request:

- My MIB reported back and they stated I had no MIB on-file after an extensive search.

- I got my Lexis Nexus report and that thing had everything and the kitchen sink. Wow!

So my one remaining question after sending off the DV to the CA as my most recent activity:

1) For proof of receipt based on the following instructions here (http://whychat.5u.com/ltrcavalhipaa.html#DISPUTE)

- Am I suppose to wait until I receive the green RR receipt card back in the mail before sending off the follow-up letter to the CRA? (Note: I sent this letter USPS CMRR to the CA)

Did you send your DV to a PO Box?? I hope not!!

Yes wait until you get your green card back before sending the follow up dispute to the CRA.

If you do NOT get your green card back and your mail is returned to you, you need to include that information in your follow up letter that the CA address provided by the CRA is not a valid address.

You should have sent it certified only, WITHOUT a return receipt requested just as it says in the instructions.

Why Chat,

Okay, I think I messed up then...

However, one small correction to make here as I grabbed the wrong link off the Why Chat credit help page.

1) I sent the following dispute letter CMRR to the PO box of the medical collection agency, the same address listed on the credit report.

http://whychat.5u.com/ltrcavalhipaa.html#PAID

NOTE: I have not sent the follow-up letter to the CRA, I'm waiting on the CMRR confirmation (the little green card) before sending the following letter:

Why Chat....

Did I screw up the process by sending to the PO Box as a CMRR?

Any way to recover?

Wait and see if you get the green card back. Check on line at the PO website with the certified mail tracking # to see the status of delivery.

Okay... looks like some progress is being made following the steps on the board...

This is where I'm at;

Just a reminder... I have (4) paid medical collection entries on my credit report totaling about 500 dollars

Obtained a copy of my credit report that includes the report number from all 3 CRAs

Opted Out

Requested MIB report (no MIB Data on file)

Requested Lexis Nexus report (A lot of stuff there and the kitchen sink)

Sent off initial dispute letters to all 3 credit reporting agencies (http://whychat.5u.com/hipaadisp.html)

Everything came off of Equifax and Transunion with the initial dispute

However, all 4 remained reporting on Experian and were validated erroneously

Sent off the following dispute with the CA (http://whychat.5u.com/ltrcavalhipaa.html#PAID)

UPDATE: 1 of the 4 fell off the Experian report so now I'm left with 3 paid medical (some progress)

UPDATE: So I verified that the CA received my follow-up letter as detailed in http://whychat.5u.com/ltrcavalhipaa.html#PAID ( I think I did this part wrong cause I sent it CMRR to a PO box)

So I sent the following letter to the CRA which appears to be the final step

http://whychat.5u.com/ltrcavalhipaa.html#DISPUTE

Now waiting to see what shakes out.

Thanks again everyone for all your help thus far, making some progress! I honestly believe that the bureaucracy of this all is totally nuts.

There is no way it should take this long to dispute something on your credit report which is an obvious error.
