Greetings from Ontario

How can I stop hard inquires from the showing up on my credit report when I have no trade lines associated with them? I've been reading extensively throughout this forum but most rules seem to apply to the USA...........

I've sent letters indicating that i have no knowledge of the debt...they stop then another collection company starts up.... and another hard inquiry...can i ever get out of this vicious cycle?

Thanks in anticipation of any replies...........

You are a victim of ID theft.

Initialize a Fraud alert on your credit file by contacting Equifax and TransUnion. Use credit monitoring service usually cost $15-$20 a month.

How do you know that from the limited info given? It is very possible that someone with a similar name is having their info mistakenly added to the OP's reports.

the links to the laws listed in this pinned topic may help you http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=510708

A credit reporting agency is allowed to release or reveal the information in your file or give a credit report only:
to you;
to the person the application is made to when you apply for credit, insurance, employment, tenancy or other eligibility under Canadian law;
to collect a debt you owe;
for other legitimate business purposes, as authorized by the Act;
to update information in a credit report about you that that person already has;
to any Canadian law enforcement agency for an investigation or prosecution;
to a person a court has ordered the information be given to;
to a person you have identified in writing to the credit reporting agency; or
to any person the Act orders or directs must receive a credit report.
has any of these CA's stated why they are pulling your reports?
if you have asked that, and they have not replied, you may be able to file a complaint with your provinces debt collection regulator or Dept of consumer affairs/protection ( those links are in the pinned topic also )
if you find out that this isn't regarding any debt you owe, or owed in the past, you can send that information along to the CRA's asking them to remove the information, and restrict acccess to your reports unless it is allowed by law.
CA's can do soft pulls, they don't have to use the Hard pull.; if this isn'st for any account you owe, this may be a violation of the provinces debt collection laws
