In 2009 I ended up in the hospial and the bill was sent to collections. Over the next year or so I paid this bill completely off. The collection agency is currently listed in my credit report with a balance of zero.

In 2010 I went through the HIPPA process but the item was never removed from my record. Is it worth trying to do HIPPA again or will I be wasting my time?

How did they respond, or did they respond at all?

The collection agency confirmed the account was in collections and had a $0 balance. I didnt receive anything directly from the CA.

What exactly do you mean

Did you pay the CA ?? or the OC?? Is the account reporting as paid?? Is it being reported by the SAME CA

Try again, this time follow ALL the steps

I paid the CA and not the OC. The collection agency is listed in my credit report and the balance is reported as $0.

I went ahead and opted out as instructed. I pulled my credit reports from Annualcreditreport.com and prepared the letters to remove my old addresses. If I'm reading this right, the next step is to hand write the HIPPA letter.

If you sent them certified only, as per the instructions, there would NOT have been anything for them to sign for, and if you sent them with a return receipt requested AGAINST the advice in the instructions, your dispute will be routed to their department that handles NON CONSUMER disputes such as letters from lawyers and CROs

Looks like I misread the instructions. I thought it said to send it certified mail with RR. Should I resend it or do I wait for their response?

I started an online dispute with Trans last week for 2 medial collections, which I did make 1 payment to a couple years ago. Should I cancel the online dispute and send disputes through certified mail? The medical collections are reporting on all 3 bureaus though.

Whychat,

I sent the medical DV letter to the CA. I used the address that is listed on my credit report. Today I checked the status online through USPS and learned that the letter is "Undeliverable as Addressed". I checked the BBB and they have a different address listed then what it on my credit report. Do i need to resend the letter to the correct address or do i need to contact the CRA?

Did you send the correct medical DV??

If you sent the correct one, then send Exp the follow up dispute with a copy of the medical DV and a print-out of the " Undeliverable as Addressed".

Add this:

I have disputed this unknown medical account with the reporting
Collection Agent,( copy enclosed) the address you provided is invalid, (proof enclosed),as per
your instructions in your response of xx/xx/xxxx
to my dispute of xx/xx/xxxx. Since you have provided an invalid address for this Collection Agent, you are in violation of the FCRA and FACTA.
