First, thanks to everyone that answers the questions on this forum, you have no idea how much I learned in just a short time. I'm not big on posting, but just know like me, there are lots of us that read and never participate and we appreciate all the time you put into it... eh!

Some lingering questions that I haven't really got a clear answer to:

CIBC placed a comment:

Update freeze requested by credit grantor. Account Paid.

However, in the status it says:

Bad debt, collection account or unable to locate.

Finally, in the prior paying history they report that:

At least 120 days past due (2008-06) At least 120 days past due (2008-05) Three or more payments past due (2008-04).

Now that you have the details, I won't bore you too much with the story. I was trying to get a handle on fees that they charged me wihtout my knowledge and it climbed to over $500 (in fees on a dormant account) with no notice... well until they sent it to the collection agency that is. As you probably have already been through yourrself, playing phone tag and voice mail hell it took too many transfers and too many people to finally be able to solve my problem. They finally understood what happened and agreed to reverse all the extra charges from a certain point if I agreed to pay for some in good faith, which I did in one lump sum payment.

Now, I recall the collection agent mentionning something about calling her back in six months and she would remove or update something on my credit file. As is the norm for me or is it a man thing? I forgot and went on with my life. It still shows up on my report as per above and I've tried calling CIBC credit card services which referred me to CIBC collections service. As expected, I got nowhere and was simply explained the situation (which I am aware of) and told 6 years blah blah blah. Nothing will change on my file until the time expires.

Since they took partial blame and we met halfway can I convince equifax to remove it or make it look nicer lol? I mean really they (CIBC) dropped the ball but now my credit score is impacted because of a simple problem in the system.

This update freeze comment bothers me but from what I can tell, I'm not the only one to have that comment there. If it's paid off, should my status not say paid off instead of bad debt. or whatever? If I write a letter asking them to change my status to reflect this, what are my chances or not getting laughed at?

BMO Overdraft Credit

35 months of history and still says too new to rate or opened but not used which is a lie... Well okay so it's a shared checking account and we do go into overdraft often so it is used and active and not new at all. Is this hurting my credit score, should I request to have that changed to something else?

TELUS #**%^@

Simple, went to paperless billing, didn't get notice so they reported late payment in both nov and dec of 2012 arghhh! Not because we are unable to pay, but because they are too stubborn to use the (convenient) epost like everybody else and force me to login to their site to see my invoice and amount owed. Long term customer in good standing, asked to reverse the late payments report on my credit file and well since nobody human works there, I was told there is actually no way of doing that!?! Yes, I am bitter, I've been a Telus customer since the days of Clearnet before Telus owned them...7 months left on contract and I get my freedom back... can you say hello competition, goodbye Telus?

Do I care or does this not really affect my score?

American Express

I have an Amex with 39 months history that has a limit of 2600 and a balance of NADA! Would asking for a credit increase help or hurt my score? And if I do ask, will they then in turn make an inquiry against my file which will show up when I go to the bank for a loan? Would defeat the purpose to have an inquiry show up when I am just trying to increase my limit.

Probably too many questions, but can I increase my score a couple points in the next 6 weeks?

Thanks for your time
