You guys with Nordy Signature cards..

I'm almost at my 6 month date of having this card, with a current limit of $5000. I'm getting ready to ask for a CLI.

Does the representative ask how much you'd like to receive as a CLI like American Express does? Or do they go by activity?

I assume this will be a soft pull as well?

Nordies does a soft every 2-ish months and they use that same pull for any requests made within that 2 month window.

They won't really use "internal" data unless you've had 7 statements generate on your account. And for months that you don't use the card, a statement doesn't generate. So if you're not at the 7 statement mark... They'll go strictly off of credit info.

Yes, they do ask you how much you'd like.

Worst case scenario... You ask and they say no and you don't eat a hard pull for it.

In the past they would go to 15k pretty easy if you show 7 months usage on the card.

I started out with the store card at $3000 - after 6 months got it upped to $5000 and converted to Visa. After another 4 months requested a $10k limit and got countered with $7k. I called last night and got a "we are experiencing heavy call volume message" but waited anyways. Conversation went as follows after verifying my account:

Me: I would like to request a limit increase

Her: OK. How much do you want?

Me: Can I ask for $15k and if it is not approved, will you tell me what we can do?

Her: Yep - <required disclosures - income question>

Her: OK hold on one sec. *hold for 15 seconds*

Her: Ok you are now at $15k effective immediately. Anything else?

Me: No, thank you

Her: Bye.

Total time speaking with her was less than 2 minutes. And to think I had a whole reason in my head to justify a CLI as the last time I asked, they said "well you arent using a lot of the limit you have..." :)

4 months and 2 weeks. :) Last time I tried, they said it had to be after 4 months for another increase. - I opened the account 6/30/12, so havent had it a year yet.

Nice!

Now this was a Nordstrom retail card that you converted to a Visa?

Yes - had to wait 6 months after getting the store card to get it upgraded. During that time, I was able to knock all the baddies off my EQ report so there was no problem getting it upgraded at that point.

Forgot to mention that they DO love to see LOTS of usage.

anybody manage to get Nordy over 15k?

they keep telling me they won't go higher without showing usage.

they say they don't care that all my other cards are higher,

they only look at usage.

I've pretty much given up on ever requesting a CLI with them again.

A couple months ago I called to see if my credit limit could be raised above 15K and I was told that since I never come close to the 15K limit there is no reason to give me any more than that. I guess that is where the limit will stay because I'm not that spendy.
