Being a typical rebuilder, most of my CLs are in the $1000 - $2000 range. None of my cards have rewards. Before I joined here I assumed that no new credit would be coming my way due to the baddies on my reports and my high debt load.
In the past year I've joined multiple CUs and reduced my utilization from 75% to 13%. Added a few GECRB accounts for the potential CLIs. Still not able to remove one CA but decided it was time to start apping for better things because one bad account did not make me a credit leper. Amex Zync approved several weeks ago. That gave me confidence so when I received an email from one of my CUs that all new CC accounts would get 0% for one year on all balance transfers, I decided to app. If approved, I would be able to transfer the last of my debt.
Asked for $5000 (never aimed that high before), approved for $3500, my highest CL to date. The CSR acted like I would reject the offer and decline the card. Umm, have you looked at my credit report? You're offering me my highest CL and getting the last of my high interest debt financed at 0%. Yes, I'll take it.
The magical $5000 CL

Thank you everyone. Two years ago my only goal was to get out from under an overwhelming debt load. I had no idea I could get rewards, 0% financing and greatly reduced insurance premiums. It's amazing and embarrassing when I think about how little I understood the world of credit and finances.

FWIW, my first rebuilding 5K limits were issued by credit unions. Patelco gave me two 10K limits when all I had were crap1 toy subprime cards...
