DH and I recorded it and we're about an hour and fifteen minutes in. So far, I'm really disappointed and bored. I hope it gets better.

I was a bit annoyed about all the political commentary (I don't want to get into politics, just pointing out that it was annoying). Stick to the trivia imo.

They should have saved their $41M. Did you happen to see Muhammad Ali when they were carrying the Olympic flag past and they stopped to have him touch it? He is in such a state of decline. I guess he was supposed to have been one of the escorts. He couldn't even lift his arm without assistance from his wife. So very sad.

I thought they did a great job, it was uniquely British, so if you were not aware of some of the cultural British aspects, it was probably lost on the masses  - the ceremony started in the stadium at 9pm UK time, before that we had a nice pre-show. The torch lightening at the end was very unique, Mr Bean and the Queen look-a-like pieces were entertaining...

I loved the Bond bit. I was laughing my butt off.

You know, the queen looked rather tired and pale. (or at least I thought so) Then again she isn't as young as she used to be.

Anyway, on another topic, I shall be steeping away from my patriotic duties on the Women's 800. I'm going to be rooting for Caster Semenya.

I enjoyed what I saw of opening ceremony. Unfortunately I didn't see the beginning.

I wasn't super impressed either. I guess if they did it just for the British, then OK. But, it being a specifically very international event,.. I was expecting more. May be I was just really impressed with what they did in HK.

loved the queens bit.... considering that she never speaks to the public outside of formal occasions, it's quite a break she agreed to it

HK set the bar very high. Hard to beat that...
