officals are upset about a business closing up because it contributed a few hundred thousand a year to the sewer authority. now the business is gone. but doesnt that mean that the company will no longer use the sewer and thus the costs to the township will also go down?

or is the sewer business that lucrative and the incremental costs of the business were 'nothing' but the revenue coming in was 'all profit'

just dont get it. that water isnt being used nor needing to be processed so it should be an overall savings to the twp?

at least where I live, the use of sewer system doesnt matter, every resident pays the same XXX amount and every business pays XXXXX...Im SURE the costs are inflated in both cases and thus if it works the same way where you are, the loss of that business is a big dent in the projected income

interesting concept but i'd hate not paying based on usage. id be paying for someone who has 6 kids at home. currently i think they assume 90% of your water bill winds up in sewer and 10% of water usage is for 'other' and they dont charge you the sewer

you can also get a swimming pool fill credit on your sewer bill which can save you a lot of money.

i dont know how businesses here are charged but residents are definitely based on usage

Did the town have to make upgrades to the system to handle the waste from the plant? I'd guess sewage treatment is largely a fixed cost business.

Exactly, now they have to make the payments on a large plant that they can't fully use.

Where I am, sewer is based on water usage (and both are paid to the city). But plenty of times we pay more in sewer than water, but not always. Riddle me that.
