restaurant owners: how much would you have to lose to close

one italian restaurant in the area closed and they said it lost 2 million bucks. so how does a place last that long, i never owned a place and only know what i watch on gordon ramseys shows but i dont think any of them lost 2 mil. after the first few hundred thousand i'd guess most would toss in the towel..how in the world could you even survive that long?

so basically their marketing sucked to the tune of 2 million bucks. One of my neighbors closed his small business blaming everyone but himself...I really wanted to point out that buying brand new trucks and using them for personal use instead of just for the business might have been part of the problem.

admittedly they are the LAST store in a long strip mall which is very far from the only entrance. and nothing is even visible from the hiway 500 ft away. (and it woudl take you about 5 min from that highway anyway)...so yea it's PITA to get there and wading thru the crowded lot isnt fun.

 

starbucks closed next to them a few years ago so i guess thats sign of the times.

 

but even being the worst location in the strip mall, you should be able to not lose 2 mil. id love to see that breakdown on rent..wasted food. etc.

thankfully restaurant.com is letting people exchange their unused certificates for others. but now i'm leery to even continue using them..this is the 2nd place i got certificates for that closed
