I have started an international pet supply company, that came into being after I started inventing products for pet owners that simplify the process of caring for pets with handicaps, medical or emotional problems.

I've a lifelong love for pets, and have been working with pet dogs and cats, and thier owners, for over 20 years.

My work so far is about 50% teaching behavioral and handling skills, 30% product recommendation and 20% inventing & marketing my own products.

Ok.... How do I start...LOL :)

I have been in the Bar/Resturant industry for 12 years (Yes, I Love the SIN/Night crowd and my locations kick from 2am to 5am..lol) NOW..I usually open the bars/resturants then I build them up and sell them for profit. I also help newbies who THINK they want to be in the bar biz get started for a fee ;)

I am in Commercial RE. All of the Bar/Resturants (I own the commercial property) I just sell the biz so, they pay rent.

My Dh and I have a CPA firm staffed with 56 CPA's and 17 attorneys on staff! We handle ONLY Biz taxes and Biz Corps and etc.

12 years ago I started doing all of the commercials for my companies. So, that turned into me doing other commercials for other companies! The summer time picks up for me so I stay very busy with commercials and voice overs!

I am in the process of taking over a family owned biz, my grandfather wishes (we call him the GodFather) We have a mortage company that handlDED ONLY hard money lending in the past! We have tons of residential and commercial RE in Southeast region that we are collecting Rent and etc on. I know this biz like the back of my hand b/c it's family so.. enough said!

My number one Job and the one I enjoy the most is being a Mother :)

So, as you can see I stay VERY busy! I have a great staff for each location and that is crucial with everything I do! However, I am VERY hands on with everything I do!

I've always been interested in the biz. Is your company like a overstock company or straight retail?

Straight retail. About 1/3 of our sales come through Amazon, 1/3 from specialty sites, and 1/3 from trade shows.

We don't want to seem like we are bragging (as much!).

I am a business consultant. It's funny: anyone can just say they are a business consultant. There are no required state bar exams, required schooling, etc.

But, in my opinion, you would need to have credentials that justify holding yourself out to be a professional at something: specialized education, some experience, etc. I have my MBA, with a double concentration in Finance and Entrepreneurship. I was recruited by MIT, but couldn't transfer due to family obligations. I also have worked at a few Fortune 50 companies, on government military research projects, and have always tested extremely high on any competency exams. My undergrad was liberal arts, with a major in Computer Science, and a minor in Math.

I specialize in business strategy, but end up doing many of the lower-level, mundane aspects of business building because I simply love assisting people.

One of my favorite stories is how I assisted the director of this nonprofit from being just some guy with an idea to this:

One side thing I have done, but not at anywhere near the level you are at, is event planning and management. I used to live in Daytona Beach and West Palm Beach, and in Daytona was were I cut my teeth in event management.

While I have assisted landlords at every level, i have yet to obtain any properties myself.

You referring to The credit portion because you want other company's to basically view your file and make a decision regarding your file?

I made a thread at the top of the business credit forum. It may help you to some extent. It's called the new guide to establish business credit.

I started a facilities maintenance company 5 years ago with our main focus on the restaurant industry and have done very well with it. I have either been in the construction industry or restaurant /nightclub industry my entire life and started when I was 14. So it seemed like a good fit. In the Northeast there is only a handfull of companies that do this type of work in restaurants.. Most lack quality and over charge so at a fair price and high quality work we have a really good reputation . Most of our companies are all national or retinal chains.

I have also been doing some consulting on the side and just about to start a company for it. I focus on helping small businesses starting up and also start credit building. Also restaurant consulting which my wife is also involved, she has spent her whole life in the restaurant industry and went to Johnson and Wales.

That's it for me!

Intresting story!

Was it hard getting the phone to start ringing with these bigger companys? It seems like as long as people are still in business the work should be pretty steady? If it's broke, Someone's got to fix it. And I imagine most of the time its not the owner doing the work. At least not with these larger companys.

I own a management company that Controls a few family bizzs and a few that I started 8-10 years ago. Once I found CB back in 2004 I started to build my bizz credit. Started with a trucking company that led me into Real Estate Management. At which time I met a mentor that became a very close friend that got me into full time REI. I then branched off and went on my own with one of the family bizz's. I'm now running B/M stores in 5 states with that company. I also run a talent agency. Also just bought a organic farm I'm in the process of building that up into a few other ventures. Needless to say I keep the cash flow flowing In many types of business..

It was a slow start but once you get going your good as long as your quality is there and your not porking customers. With these types of customers you need to direct market them and get their attention especially within the restaurant industry since that is controlled chaos and the usual methods don't work well. The best approach I could find was a two sided brochure with highlights of what we could do along with a discount for their first job. After that once I would get in and do the work we were good to go after that and with the chains if you impress one manager it then spreads to the other locations and they start calling. Then on top of that building relationships with the mangers is always a good idea since the industry has such high turn over , so one day they are there next they are at another restaurant.

And yes something always needs to be fixed or replaced especially in restaurants , the property takes a beating. The big middle to higher end chains also understand how important the apperance of their building's are to keep customers coming back. One down side is the schedule, a lot of over night early morning work but then I will get a office job or other job that can be done during normal hours and it just kills the schedule but we deal with it.

I'm a little off the beaten path as my business is not brick and mortar or based on sales or services. Rather, it is a trading business. I currently have a managed account, but eventually would like to learn to trade on my own and as such, having an LLC lets me take advantage of certain tax benefits. I don't mind being personally responsible for the capital I'm risking, but I don't like it displaying on my personal credit(unless of course it is negative) which is why I see to establish business credit.

Cool. What kind of trading do you do? Sounds Intresting.

Forex :-) Right now I just have one managed account with 10k invested. Eventually I'd like to be a part time trader on my own, but it takes year of practice and observation to really understand things. One step at a time heh.
