Last week I applied for a Citibusiness AA Master, and was declined due to "too many recent inquries". I called yesterday for a recon, explaing that several of those inquries (business CR) were from Citibank for a couple of other cards I requested, she indicated I would have to call back today.

Today, I called back and explained the situation again and was transferred to a supervisor who I discussed the issue with, she indicated they review both busines and personal CRB reports and asked if I had shopped for a car recently. I indicated yes and that I requested the dealer only send my application to a single bank, but someone in the dealership got over reactive and sent it to like 4 other banks, all taking inquries.

She said my application would be re-evaluated and a decsion should be reached in 24 hours.

I'm am LLC in business since 2001 (LLC in FL since 2010), have several Citibank business/corporate cards (TSC, Office Depot, Staples, Home Depot, Shell ExxonMobil) and several personal Citibank cards (Office Depot, Home Depot). My EQ score is aournd 700.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

I called Citibank earlir today, they indicated my application is pending final review. They are now requiring me to send them proof of business address. Of the seven (7) items they will accept, I must provide 2. They gave me a fax number and told me to ensure the application reference number is on all pages of all documents I submit. Once fax'ed, wait 24 hours to call and verify receipt and decision.

Documents they will accept:

  •
  • Business Bank Statement
  • Business Utility Bill
  • Business Telephone Bill
  • Business Lease
  • Business License
  • Articles of Incorporation
  • Articles of Organization

I sent (via FAX) a copy of my Business bank statement, a voided business check, and my Articles of Organization from the State of FL.

Anyone care to make a prediction -- approval or decline ?

Wow, all of this just to get a credit card? It's becoming NO WORTH IT for all of this information. It's time to start learning to become our own banks and financing our own ventures and paying ourselves the interest instead of the these banks.

It is more than worth it to me, if it gets me an approval. I am going to call later today to confirm they received the documents I faxed yesterday and if they have rendered a decision, hopefully approval.

The initial decision was a denial. However, you were able to get them to re consider their decision. I would continue to press them for an approval. Make sure you speak to a supervisor/underwriter. That's the decision maker.

I called a few minutes ago and still shows the application is pending further review. I reached out to a supervisor who explained it can take 7 business days following the receipt of the documentation they requested. He also indicated the application and documentation reviews are processed in the order received. There is no way to move the application forward other than allowing the process.

He indicated the automated status line (which I've been using) will update with the final decision once reached. The cards will take 5-7 days following the final decision (approval, I hope).

Wow, this is a process....

They're obviously doing a review of your company's credit information. Good luck.

It's all about your business credit file. Kinda hard to predict sometimes. Building a solid business credit file is the only way to have success. Keep us updated on your progress.

I called the automated status line this morning fully expecting to hear "The application is pending further review".... However, I heard "Congratulations, your application was approved on July 10. Pleae allow one week to receive your cards". The system did not give me the CL.

I should receive an email as well, since I agreed to receive the decision via email. They have sent me emails from the initial response through the verification request. My assumption is that it will send me an email with approval, it may give me the credit line.

I'll update once I know the CL.

Thanks All !

I just found out the CL is $8,000. This is my highest business CL, next to my Dell Business Credit account with a $6,500 CL.

Congrats. Now it's time to put the business credit card to use and make sure to pay your bills on time.

I called the application status line and worked my way to a human, the number is 888-201-4523. When I was asked for verification docs (shown above), the number on the letter/email was 800-645-7240. Another contact number on the same letter is 800-807-4398

The best number to call is 800-288-4653. I just recently got approved for the Citi AA business card. I was able to get a live person on the phone.

Thanks !

I applied for Citi AT&T card - and expecting an intial decline - so want to get prepared.

You should be fine. Never take NO for an answer. Always dispute for a reconsideration. Good luck.
