Well that's disappointing. I got that email, too, and was planning to check back over the weekend to see what was going on.

I check out the deals every year. Usually there is something for both new and existing ING Direct customers.

For example, if you open a ShareBuilder brokerage account or a ShareBuilder IRA account, they may give you a $76 cash bonus (that's what they did last year). You may get a matching cash deposit if you open a new Electric Orange Checking account. Existing ShareBuilder account owners may get free real-time stock trades or free automatic investment plan trades. Referring friends to ING Direct might be another promo that will give you money.

Each year it varies, but the numbers are usually related to Independence Day ($76, $1,976, etc.). I always find at least one promotion to take advantage of... because it's free money -- and I don't turn free money down.

With Capital One now on board, I wonder if there will be offers involving that brand this year.

I know right. I have both savings and checking and sharebuilder already so there's never anything good for me with these deals.
