Hello!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I opened a OneWest Bank account and savings. I got a letter a week later closing my checking. I have multiple duplicate inquiries from my credit union, First Entertainment, dating from 2 years ago. And, I opened a recent account. Have no idea why closed and didn't want to make an issue of it.

Irritated so I didn't even call to see why!

They have always been a big chexsystems bank. DO you have anything reported other than the inquiries?

Bumping. Anything new on One West Bank?

I'm thinking of opening a checking account with them. I have no Chex inquiries in the last six months that I'm aware of, but inquiries before that. Nothing negative but inquiries.

I spoke with a banker at OneWest in Pasadena today. He confirmed they are now using Chexsystems, but did not indicate they have a second chance account. Like most of the banks say, he mentioned they 'run Chexsystems and review each application individually'.

Thanks. I'm going to wait until October before attempting to open a checking account and then credit card. Last summer I kind of went hog-wild opening accounts with Discover Bank (for a bonus), Premier America Credit Union (for another bonus) and Redneck Bank (I wanted their horsey debit card). I'll apply once all those Chex inquiries are a year old.

The OneWest Bank, CIT Bank merger completed today. The new name of OneWest is "OneWest Bank, a Division of CIT Bank N.A." Both banks will continue to be run separately. I'm thinking they may eventually merge operations, but things like this takes time.

CIT Bank doesn't have checking accounts or credit cards. They're mainly savings deposits for consumers. For the other banking stuff, you still need to use OneWest.

I did pull the trigger and applied for a One West Bank checking account online. I elected to make a transfer from a current checking account I have. I just entered the trial deposit amounts, got my account number, and it looks like everything is good to go. I just need to wait for my initial EFT deposit to clear and for my debit card. The confirmation says I need to fill out a signature card, but don't have that yet. It will probably be mailed.

No hard inquiry on my credit reports (I just checked). I assume they did a ChexSystems, but I'll check that report at a later date. I should have only Chex one inquiry in the last year according to my timing and the last time I requested a report, so that's why I waited applying until now. Last August and September, I did go hog-wild opening three checking accounts (including Redneck and Discover Bank), so I played it safe until they were over a year old. I did get burned in January by a bank that didn't like my new account activity.

I would check Renasant Bank.. .its in GA, AL, and TN, but if you can do electronic direct deposit... or even Square, it can work.

Can anyone help me with a bank that does not do check systems or EWS is Fort Lauderdale Florida

Keep us updated with any issues with the account.

OneWest Bank sent me a signature card from their worldwide headquarters in Pasadena. I mailed that back. I am able to login to online banking to see my balance. I'm waiting for my debit card and checks, but it looks like I'm just about good to go.

I opened the account with plans to also open a credit card. Their website indicates I need to be a deposit customer for one year, but nothing to stop me from applying if not. I plan on waiting to apply until January. At that time I'll call about the card and ask if that is a rule that's 100% enforced or if they bend the rules for customers with very good credit.

I'm pretty sure they ran Chexsystems, but let us know once you find out.

I'm pretty sure too, but that might be a while. I requested my free annual report on ChexSystems in January, so a few months before I can do that again (unless I'm declined).
