I have been reading and re reading this site and I am finally ready to send some letters to remove paid and unpaid medical collections from my Credit Report. Thank you in advance for your help.

I have opted out as per your 800# you suggested. I have been trying to remove old addresses and sad to say I have not been so successful. Equifax only shows my current address. Experian wont budge to remove or even correct my address. Transunion was only showing my current until today and they have re added an old addresses and a miss spelled address?? Crazy stuff!!! Do you have any suggestion to help me succed in updating and removing these addresses?

I was contacted by phone by the Collection Agency (thats what started all this) and told them I did not owe this and they would have to prove this to me she then proceded to tell me I have 5 items in their collection department (4 are paid and one owing 115.00). Yes, I was shocked. She proceded to tell me dates times procedures and what Dr. was seen. She also told me that when I would pay the hospital bill that my check was forwared to her and she applied the money as she saw fit. REALLY!!! I have recieved her screen shots and marked up discriptions of what she says I owe ~~~~ and how money was applied. (How can a collection agency legally have information about what Dr and procedure I had? That is what upsets me the most.)

I have recieved her information and would really like to know what I can and should do first.

Should I opt out with the Hospital first? If so do you have a sample letter?

My scores as of 6/20/12 are:

Experian 716 with 2 medical collections both marked closed and disputed
Equifax 528 with 5 medical collections 4 marked closed unpaid and 1 marked closed paid
Transunion 706 with 2 medical collections both marked open and disputed 1 closed disputed does not say medical

This may be to much information but I want to do this the right way and only one time.

Thank you

You do not have to delete old addresses in your case as it appears that the OC and the CA have your current address, IF any of the entries on any report are from a DIFFERENT CA, AND you moved since the date of medical service?? send a handwritten letter to each CRA ( you MUST have REAL reports To order, visit annualcreditreport.com,or call 1-877-322-8228)
stating that the address of xxx and xxx on your report is invalid and that you are concerned about ID theft/fraud. Include a copy of your SS card a copy of your drivers license and an ORIGINAL recent utility bill as proof of your identity and address.

When was the medical service??

Send each CRA this, listing all medical accounts, paid or unpaid.
http://www.whychat.5.../hipaadisp.html

You do not need to opt out with the OC

IF you are SURE that the outstanding bill of $115. is valid and IF this was for treatment within the past 2 years, then you can PAY the OC with the HIPAA letter insert "a"
http://www.whychat.5u.com/hipltr.html

follow ALL the directions, the letter AND the restrictive endorsement on the back of the MONEY ORDER will prevent the OC from "turning over" the payment to the CA.

When was the medical service??

3/23/06 for 143.08 marked paid
5/16/06 for 15.95 marked paid
1/2/11 for 106.70 marked owing
there are 2 others on the front page that I was not given a screen shot of and they are 12.43 and 124.07 and not sure of dates of service.

Looking over the information she sent me and after contacting the hospital the amount is 106.70. I might add I offered to pay the Hospital on 6/4/12 and she refused to take my payment.

Pay the hospital with the HIPAA letter insert "a" ( $106.70)

What "screen shot" are you referring to??
Are you working off your REAL credit reports or some kind of 3rd party monitoring service reports.

All the rest should be easily deleted with the initial dispute letter. ( provided you get the address deletions taken care of if you have moved since 2006)

The HIPAA letter to the OC with the money order MUST be properly typed and sent CMRR, it is ONLY the initial dispute letter to the CRA ( Credit Reporting Agencies) that is sent in "scan resistant" font. WHAT letters are you sending to the CAs?? There should be NOTHING going to the CAs at all, unless you do not get deletions with your initial dispute to the CRAs

Letters ready to go to the Collection Agencies.

Here is an update:

First I have paid off all credit cards but all are not showing zero balance on credit reports.

Transunion-added 2 old address that had beed removed a month or so ago?? After sending letter to Transunion stating no knowledge of 3 medical collection accounts. I received letter from Transunion deleted one verified, no change on one and no status or information on one. What should I do now? The one they didt or havent given me any information on is the one I sent to OC with Money order payment HIPAA letter insert "a"
http://www.whychat.5u.com/hipltr.html.

Equifax--Started with 5 Medical collections 2 where deleted 1 verified and 2 no answer and 1 of the no answers is the one I sent the HIPAA letter with Money order.

Experian--Started with 2 Medical collections--1 -remains the other 1 no answer but is the same one I sent the HIPAA letter to OC with Money order payment.

What should I do now? Thank you

OK, I think you may have gotten stuff a little confused, however--

On the accounts that were NOT deleted from your credit reports ( other than the one you paid with the HIPAA letter insert "a") send each CA this:
http://www.whychat.5...cavalhipaa.html

and then re-dispute to each CRA with this as soon as you have proof of the CA's receipt of the medical DV

On the one you paid with the HIPAA letter insert "a"

What is the date they received it??

Have they deposited the money order??

I have a question about one of the Collection Agency letters I was preparing to send. It is to FirstSource it is a Medical collection on my TransUnion credit report it says open date of 6/30/10. Balance 1699.99. The date I was in the hospital was 8/18/09. Not sure this makes a difference or not?

Im not sure of the statue of limitaions either. I have a South Dakota address and this hospital stay was in Illinois. Would I go by SOL from South Dakota or Illinois? and I dont know what either state is.

Thanks once again for your help.

The reporting date is the date the CA received the account from the OC.

Don't worry about the SOL. It is only if you are sued that you need to know the SOL for a defense. If it is a hospital that gets reimbursed by tax $$ for no-pays, then there is NO SOL as it is considered the same as a Governmental debt. In general, medical accounts have a 4 year SOL in almost all States.

Did you get your old addresses deleted before reporting??

There can not be a "flow chart" for the HIPAA letter program because every situation is different and there are too many variables.

The instructions state to get a BANK money order, that way you wouldn't have any trouble finding out if it was deposited.

Why Chat,

I have a question in reference to the Letters I sent to the Credit Bureau's:

Equifax--A1 Collection--(I paid the OC with MoneyOrder insert "a")--no response from Credit Bureau
Creditor Service Of Morgan--no response from Credit Bureau
First Source Advantage--verified
Collection Reports (on Credit Report twice)--both removed

My question is the ones that I listed and did not recieve a response from the Credit Bureau can I not demand them to remove these?

Thanks again for ALL of your help!!

WhyChat,
I am not sure if too much time has lapsed with this process.

Here is where I am.

I sent the letters to A-1 and to First Source as per your HIPAA process on August
30, 2012, once I received the green card back I sent the letter to the Credit
Bureau Experian.

Experian sent me a letter September 11, 2012 saying if you question the results of our
dispute process, then you may want to contact the furnisher of information directly
or review the original information in the public record. Please refer to your
original personal credit report for the furnisher of public records office
name, address, and phone number (if available).

Then on September 25, 2012 I received another letter from Experian --To assist you
in understanding your correction summary, we have provided additional
information that relates directly to items on your personal credit report.

FirstSource

Please contact credit grantor at 866####

When a medical bill is seriously pas due, the provider may use an internal
collection department, hire an attorney or contact with a collection agency to
collect the payments, and this information may be reported to us since it is a
financial obligation. Once the payments have been collected, the account will
display as "paid/collection" and may remain on the report for seven
years.

Because we cannot display certain medical information relating to physical, mental, or
behavioral health or conditions by law, the company name will display only as
"Medical payment data".

Although we do not generally collect this type of information, it may appear in the name
of a data furnisher, for example "Cancer Center." To prevent this, we
mask the names of data furnishers that provide us medical payment history when
we provide your information to others.

This requirement does not extend to the payment history that the data furnisher
provides us. Your payment history with this creditor will be displayed in
reports to others.

sincerely
Experian

On the next page it says FirstSource --remains

I’m not sure if this is when I file to sue Experian and/or FirstSource or have Ilet too much time lapse?

I still as of today have not received anything from A-1 or First Source and have
not received any information from Experian about A-1. I pulled my report on
1/14/2013 and both are still on my report A-1 now reports as paid/closed (this
is the one I sent the money order to) and Firstsource is the same as before.

Thank
you very much for ALL of your help

Experian sent me a letter September 11, 2012 saying if you question the results of our
dispute process, then you may want to contact the furnisher of information directly
or review the original information in the public record. Please refer to your
original personal credit report for the furnisher of public records office
name, address, and phone number (if available).

Then on September 25, 2012 I received another letter from Experian --To assist you
in understanding your correction summary, we have provided additional
information that relates directly to items on your personal credit report.

Are you saying you paid the OC with the HIPAA letter insert "a" and that at least one of the accounts is now showing as a "paid" collection??

Are you saying you DID or did NOT send the follow up letters posted after insert "c" to the CRAs with a copy and cover letter to the OC??

Why Chat, I noticed today that a CA that I had gotten deleted is now reporting as of 1/2013 and is reporting as a paid medical.

This is one of my medical collections I started with in July 2012. I sent the CA the proper HIPAA letter CMRR on 8/16/12 with your help and sent the CRA the proper letter as well.

Equifax responded back as of 10/2/2012 That this CA was not reporting on my Credit report.

I have not EVER recieved anything from this collection agency EVER and

Another question--when writing the letter to CRA after HIPAA letter using insert "a"--which report number do you use the original one you started with or say you have an updated one thats more recent?

Thanks anyone that knows this answer
