Got quick question, should the letters I am about to send be typed or hand written? I have seen where some had done them in different colors so the computer scanning would be harder but does that just mean color of font, or hand written? Thanks

So far started with sending a letter of validation to a medical collection agency.

Where are you sending these letters? the CRA's? the creditors? a collection agency?

From my understanding the idea was to make it so your letter was not automatically scanned when sending them to the CRA's thus it would be manually read and dispute entered by a person because this would more often result in a more favorable outcome. I can't say weather this is true or not I don't have enough experience ether way, Though I will say EQ has the WORST OCR technology on the planet earth. Out of about 5 letters to them they've only ever responded correctly to 1 letter, the rest I disputed XYZ trade line and they'd send me a note back saying my SSN and DOB are confirmed... Like really? And other totally unrelated responses to the letter I had sent. I've tried using bigger font, I've tried Times New Roman, Arial, etc etc.. Its seriously like writing letters to a monkey with a pile of form letters.

Anyways I think the theory operated under the idea that if it was hand written the OCR would fail and thus manual review of your letter or if it was in certain colors the scanner would not pick it up and OCR would Fail. (Sorta like how teachers in grade school can copy pages out of their teacher edition book but because all the answers are in blue, red, whatever the B&W copier does not pick them up.) However I'm not sure that this works these days, personally I have a low end document scanner and OCR software and it gets 99% of everything. (It even gets the text in weird logos, colors, weird fonts, etc) I'd Hope a company that is scanning documents as a major operating function would have better quality scanner and software than what I have...

I've always done typed, regular font black text and always communicated clearly with EX and TU.

I'd say your probably fine typing and sending them no special anything but see what other folks say, maybe someone knows something I don't or had an especially positive experience with one of the methods.

Thank you for your help, Looks like you have gotten your scores up a good amount. I sent the DV letter to the CA and have gotten the green card back. Now do I send a Verification letter to the CRA? or do I just let them know that I send a DV to the CA?

Thank you again

It is two different charges. one for husband and yes can pay just making sure because I believe it has already been paid, The other is daughter ( more money)but she was not living with us at the time or sense of service and we did not sign medical papers at time of service. I am not even listed as mother or he as father. he is step dad and was his insurance they billed but she did not give it to the hospital they just used it off other records of her being there before.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

If it's for a medical debt, is it something you can pay, or an insurance mistake?

For Medical Stuff you should use whycats HIPAA process. http://whychat.5u.com/hipltr.html

(also can search around here for peoples experiences for it.)

I've never personally used it but it seems to be effective based on what I've seen other folks posting about it.

use a hot pink pen, hope this helps :)

and send flowers too :rolf:

seriously, the scanners I've seen can scan white on white. if you want your disputes to be taken seriously, don't play games.

lol well the DV letter I already sent to CA and has already been received, was just typed in regular font. So to late to make any changes on that one anyway. Just wondering if I am now suppose to send a verification letter to the CRA's or at least let them know that I sent the DV letter to the CA?

Thank you Breeze, let me ask you another question. The other things on the CR are collections/paid for less, or paid collections, or paid charge off's..Where should I start asking questions about them?

I'll put it in the medical forum and they will help you. Just do what they say, it works.

If you have medical accounts on your credit reports you can use the following steps to get them deleted.

Opt Out

http://whychat.5u.com/OPTOUTINST.HTML

If you have moved since the date of medical treatment, try to get your old addresses deleted.

Send each CRA this: ( list all medical accounts as they appear on the report you are disputing)

http://whychat.5u.com/hipaadisp.html

Come back to THIS post in THIS forum for additional help. When you come back, tell us the DATE of the medical services and if they are on ALL 3 reports.Make sure you are using REAL reports with their own individual report ID# To order, visit annualcreditreport.com,or call 1-877-322-8228

Thanks to both of you, I have EX,and TU reports for CRA, don't know why don't have EQ, and then I have the current reports from freescore.com that hubby ordered.that he has a monthly deal with. Is there a better site or one that yall might recommend I don't like there as it does hot have the date of the first late charge or date coming off report on it.

Just take one thing at a time right now. :)

I'm not sure where the other free ones are, check the pinned threads - first ones in the main credit forum. Or use the number on the report you've got to get another one.
