A local person was recently tried for sexually assaulting a family member when she was 10-11ish.

The guy is/was very well-known and well-liked in the community, so I knew it would be an uphill battle for the prosecution. While the verdict didn't surprise me, I also can't y for certain that I think he is innocent. I just don't know. I'm sadden for the entire family and I hope the girl can get the help she needs to heal (from the backlash she suffered if it's true, and if she did fabricate the allegation, to heal from whatever would cause her to do that).

I just had to get that off my chest, and I can't say it on FB as a lot of my FB friends are his supporters.

Uggh it pisses me off when people are like that.. that can't see past their own likeability of someone to do such hideous crimes. No matter how famous/likeable someone is sometimes people are just capable of doing crimes like this. Surely there was tests done/dna taken etc?

Twelve years ago, our assistant principal was arrested by the FBI after having taken a large role in a child porn ring. He had also crossed state lines in an attempt to "buy" two children from their crack-whore mother for the purposes of sex and then planned to kill them ... all of this on a recording by the FBI. Lots of audio visual equipment was found at his home and he was actually arrested at the school (we were on fall break) while attempting to clear items from his office. There were a couple of faculty and staff members who refused to believe the charges. Those people have finally come to accept the truth. It is my hope that he cowers in the corner of his cell each day as other prisoners take their turn with him. He deserves everything bad that ever happens to him.

It took two years for the girl to even come forward. I believe tests were done but by then there is no way to prove who did anything. It was basically a he said/she said. There may (or may not) have been any other evidence. The media was tight lipped about it. And I didn't attend the trial.y understanding is that the advocacy center (where she was interviewed by experts) and the hospital where she was examined both found her credible/believe it happened.

But when she first came forward her story did change a couple times (I've since been told that her mother was pressuring her to recant).

SplashMom. This person works at a school too. He was never fired, just took paid leave.

Wait.. the mother tried pressuring her to recant? The mother needs a slap upside the head.. seriously. Unless it was to protect her daughter from further harm by others.. but even then.. if your own parent/parents can't stand next to their daughter when she tells someone this, who can she trust?I feel so very sorry for this little girl.. hopefully she gets the counseling she needs to move forward.
