Good credit, still denied

I have really good credit. I also have a mortgage together with my ex wife that she pays, not me. I haven't paid in 9 years. I was denied an auto loan through my credit union because of excessive debts. Other than that mortgage that I'm not responsible for (court order) I have very little debt. What can I do? I need a new car that I clearly can afford.

You could try to re appeal your credit union decision along with a copy of your court order. Typically a credit union will frown on dti%'s in the 45%+ range. Hopefully your credit union will make an exception in your case.
