Is there a card out there that will build credit with out doing a hard pull? Is there anything that will do that? I want to bump up my number in anyway I can without getting a hard pull so I can increase my mortgage potential. My positive trade line includes a bank account, the credit cards I am the secondary on, and my negatives are five year old late payments on a loan paid in full (I'm spamming them with goodwill letters) and some late payments on a department store charge card that should be removed soon.

A new account may be just as much of a problem as an inquiry, if not more. What is your time frame for obtaining your mortgage?

It is hard to say. I am waiting on a very late filed tax return to pay off the credit card. Then after learning what we'll be pre-approved for I want to start bidding, but I want to be relaxed about it and just regularly visit new listings (there are a finite number of houses for sale in the area) and submit bids on what I like.

My husband just got a new credit card. I felt like I had to because I regularly used our old visa for parking meters and I couldn't stand the online system they were using. So I guess that is a problem too.

Yes. new lines of credit is somewhat frowned upon when looking to get a home loan. Banks will delay/deny you for the smallest items.

-newly acquired accounts (credit cards, auto, etc...)
-mysterious large cash deposits <----speaking from experience :swoon:

Macy's and Bloomingdales is possible to obtain a credit card as a joint account without a credit check if you apply in person with a primary borrower listed on top of the app has a score of 720 or above. also store cards like express and few companies are possible to get a card with a soft inquiry.

Also Authorized users is another way

Thank you. Now of course I am question new lines of credit.

How can they tell if the person is 720 and above without a hard pull? Does it help that I have the Macy's red card?

Remmeber express and etc you need to look up the company people were reporting with a pre-approved offer online you can sign up with without a hardpull, with 720 or above if you have PSECU account cause it needs to be experian, but 720 is easy to spot pretty much, a good long history with no derogs on their report should do it without a hitch. atleast 5 good years of average age of accounts + no derogs should be 720+ so you can have the person go to quizzle and look up their credit info before hand. (free place to check credit report once every 180 days 100% free) if the report is clean with good solid track history they'll be more than ideal. Good luck finding a person like that :) usually only family will do it but if you have a good friend that's awesome.
