I applied for a PNC account since they bought out RBC Bank. I was approved after about five days- I applied online. Its been over a month, a couple direct deposits have gone in AND its been great so far. I have the virtual wallet with performance checking.

Just thought I would share. yes, I am on Chex, but no fraud or major balances owed.

I applied for a PNC Virtual Wallet Account when they first introduced the product and was denied on my own, however was allowed to open the account with my spouse as the primary instead. I've used this account for a few years and have had no issues, despite something from 2006 showing up on Chex (the original reason my first attempt was declined). I recently moved and have tried to open another joint account with my husband and was declined based on Chex, even with my husband as the primary. I'm happy with PNC (and virtual wallet) and was impressed that they were willing to find a way to work around this with me. Can't say the same for the more recent bank.

I just opened a PNC Virtual Wallet Account with them. I had three things on Chex Systems from a few years ago. Including one from PNc, but they were all listed as paid.

Some people have told me that PNC looks more at the EWS report now than chexsystems and they also run a credit report and take that into account for an approval

Then that sucks your credit report has to take a hit. Maybe it's a soft inquiry?

I don't think it's a soft hit but not 100% on that

I opened a checking account online with PNC. No hard inquiry. This was early last year, so it's possible things have changed.

I opened a PNC free checking. They pulled hard on Chexsystem and soft pull from EXP for ID.

I can vouch from recent experience that pnc is usually pretty lenient with accounts. Someone I know opened a virtual wallet account roughly a year ago and their credit was awful. No knowledge about that persons chex or ews background that I can offer though. So far so good.

I just opened this account. I'm on Chex so I'm not hopeful it will stay open. I wish it did since its such a cool idea.
