Some helpful tips:
- Your post may not get a reply right away. Don't be discouraged, this is a very busy board. If it falls off of the first page, feel free to reply to your post yourself, with the word "bump" in the text. This will *bump* your post back up to the top of the board.
- If you haven't yet, take a peek at The CB's Newbie Section Everything that you need to know is in that forum, for the most part! It's a lot of reading, we know, but this credit stuff can have a steep learning curve. In no time, you'll be posting like the pros!
- This is also a good place to start for Business Credit Newbies
- If you find that someone is discourteous to you, use the REPORT button at the bottom of every post - that will ensure that a moderator or admin looks at the post and decides if it is against the CB's TOS
- Off -topic posts should go in the fun place known as the CB General Forum
Finally, this thread will explain our position on Solicitations and Advertising
We do not allow solicitation or advertising on any forum on creditboards, including the business forum.
Again, welcome to the CreditBoards family!

Thanks. Im going to file the llc papers tomorrow. I registered with d n b. Which creditors are the easiest to get started with and how do i get listed with experian and equifax?Usually the bigger creditors will require sole prop to pg the account. But then again they require a lot of things that I have been able to get away with. Personally I would just incorporate with an llc. It gives a lot of protection and in my opinion makes you look more professional. It's only about 100 bucks and it takes a cupple of days. Most smaller companies will probably give you credit as long as you have a decent file.

Did you read that thread? It answers a lot of the questions you are asking.
The trades listed in my sig, Starting from the top left are in order from when I received them. I started not even two years ago and the trades listed in my sig are what we currenty have. I have not PG'd any of them.

It may be a little tricky to establish non pg credit under both businesses using the same. Resistors but it definitely can be done. A lot of creditors will let you open multiple accounts under the same company if it is a different department of the business.

Every sole prop is PGing every account they have, weather it's a small or large creditor. Their is no such thing as a non PG account for a sole prop.. Any time it ask for your legal business name you need to put down your name. I have seen people say just put down your DBA name but guess what that would be fraud and you would stil be responsible for the account no matter what you put down..
Just want to make sure every one understands that!

I have a sole proprietor business and I wanted to get credit without using my personal credit. Is this possible and if so what companies should I start with? I just requested a number with dnb
As Sole Proprietor you will have to PG for credit, the best you can hope for is a some NET 30 accounts may not ask for a PG. You will have to PG major credit cards (MC, AMEX, etc...), fuel cards, business credit cards such as Staples and nearly every other type of credit.
Why? Because under the law, a Sole Proprietorship is not treated as a separate entity from the owner and our personally responsible for all debts.

In terms of a sole prop being legally liable for the account? Sure, they always will be when it comes to defaulting. He was not asking if he would be liable for the account if he ever defaulted. He asked if he would be able to obtain business credit as a sole prop without his personal credit being accessed and/or the credit decision being based off of his personal credit scores.
And that answer is still yes.

Just assumed that is what you were trying to say.. A lot of people just don't get the whole sole prop thing some times, they think if you use your DBA name your not PGing anything. If you have a sole prop for some stupid reason then should just use your personal credit (if it is good) to get approvals you need or want just make sure they don't report to personal.

Yes you can just use your cell phone. It has worked perfectly for me. Also I would not pay to be listed with 411 or the white pages. And as far as I know they don't charge for listings. So you may want to look into that to see if you could get a refund. I got listed with both for free and it took about two months. That explains ex and eq not having a file for you (Since you did not do anything with the business once started)
Anyway, like I said you have an awesome head start that most of us didnt have due to that business that is already aged. I'm glad I'm able to help. If you have any other questions feel free to let me know.
stroked89coupe, what service or technique did you use to get listed in the 411 directory in two months ??
Thanks for your help ....
