I am debating on whether or not to settle with a well-known debt collector, collection attorney, etc. The balance keeps growing but not quite sure how to negotiate. Basically I have another 1.5 years left on the SOL. I am in no rush to get the derog off but it would certainly help get some new cards. I should be able to negotiate the balance down to 25% and get them to do a Pay For Delete? I feel like its going to be a hassle to get them off my CR unless I settle, get them to agree to a PFD and then get the JDB to actually delete it. What are your thoughts and experiences on this?

well, is it a valid debt? Have they validated it, or are you just taking their word for it that you "owe them"?

What leads you to believe that they'd take 25% and delete?

I'm dubious that I owe this and no it hasn't been validated yet. However it is possible since I had some accounts in my name that went bad.

I believe they'd take 25% because they can't find me and serve me. I don't know why they'd delete or how I can spice the deal so this is true?
