Two weeks ago tomorrow, my husband and two friends were out fishing on a river here in Arkansas. I won't go into the long story of the accident, but the water was high and they hit some debris (a tree was down and they couldn't see it, so possible the tree too),anyway....they went airborne and something came down on the throttle. They ended up 50 yards into the woods. Since the water was high, they were still in water. The steering wheel kept my husband from being thrown out we think, but the other two weren't so lucky. My husband blocked most of this out for a day or so before putting it together because he kept telling us that they were not in the water. They were so far out, the cell service was in and out and both of his friends weren't breathing. One was face down in the water. My husband somehow got them both back in the boat one at a time and performed CPR. (he took EMT school 20 years ago, but never actually worked as one)....one of them weighs about 300 or so pounds. He is like a brother to my husband. The other guy is here from Florida, but also a friend and wanted to join them fishing that day. My DH somehow got them both breathing again and then got in the water and swam the boat back out into the river so he could hopefully get some help. The accident happened at around 5:30, I had a missed call from him at 5:47 and I didn't see it until 6:20 or so and couldn't get him to answer. He kept calling 911, but kept being cut off. He finally reached a friend and after an hour or so, help arrived. They were all brought to the ER by ambulance here in our town. My husband (who already has been in a severe car accident and had a severe head injury~he is missing part of his skull and has a steel plate in his head) hit his head, but the CT Scan showed no trauma, so he was released that night. I wasn't called until around 8:00 and the doctor called me so it freaked me out pretty bad. They couldn't find his friends parents. The guy from Florida had a clear CT Scan too, but they kept him overnight. By the time I got to the ER, our friend had already been transported to Little Rock to a higher level trauma center. They still hadn't found a number for his parents. The police ended up having to knock on their door to tell them. The last two weeks have been awful. He never woke up, and the diagnosis changed a little from day to day. He had a severe head injury and they didn't know if he would ever wake up. He started responding, but last night, they found several blood clots all over his body. He passed away this morning at a little before 9am. He was only 32, never married and no kids. Please say some prayers for my husband and our friend's family. I am having a hard time too, but my husband has SO many emotions he is dealing with. I can't imagine being his mother and everyone is just sick about it.
Thanks in advance for the prayers!

What a terrible situation. Your husband did a very good thing in a very terrible moment. He should be proud that his training stuck with him otherwise this could have been worse. That said, I am sure it must be just awful for everyone involved.

I am so sorry for all involved. Your husband's actions were nothing short of heroic and I hope he's able to remember that as he deals with the loss. Prayers will definitely be said.

I'm so sorry for you all. What a horrible situation, your husband is definately a hero. If not for his actions, both likely would have lost their lives. You are all in my prayers.
