After 6 months of cleaning up baddies, I am getting close to apping for a CC. I really don't want a toy card or a pure rebuilder like Orchard. Maybe I don't have a choice, but I'd like to try to get a card that might be useful in the future.

I am thinking I'd like to try to get the Walmart card, We shop there and I would like the free FICO. My TU which is what they normally pull is probably my mid report. It has one CA, one 30 day late on a mortgage, one CO CC that is almost paid off. I also have a paid released tax lien and 2 judgments.

I've had one GE CO that has aged off my reports.

Income is close to 100K. My reports will probably look a little better shortly and I might wait for that, but I want to move next year and need another open TL for that.

I have zero inq on EX and TU, one on EQ.

Apply for Walmart, apply for Orchard (preselector shows unsecured MC), or wait a month and join local CU and try for a CC there. I don't want to tie up a lot of $$$ for secured.

I see on creditpulls here that there are some approvals at my score levels (around 600) for GEMB store cards. I am wondering if the extra income could be the factor? Even a low CL to start would be OK with them thanks to a good chance for regular CLI.

I applied in-store for my GEMB Walmart Discover card, and don't even remember being asked any questions regarding my income, which right now sits around 21k so I doubt that'll be too much of a factor for you. That said, it can't hurt to try to get a Walmart card for the free FICO, and even the quick signup bonus for it.
