My corporation is 30 years old but 10 years ago I got two charge-offs (Home Depot $5k & Lowes $5K) I've tried to get them off D&B but they keep showing up again. I also see they are showing also in Equifax. I would like to build business credit. I have a 10 year old non-profit as well. Is it better to just dissolve the 30 year old for profit corporation and try to establish credit using the non-profit one?

Thanks

Cat

Welcome to CreditBoards and the Business Credit Forum! We hope that you find what you're looking for here.

Some helpful tips:

  • Your post may not get a reply right away. Don't be discouraged, this is a very busy board. If it falls off of the first page, feel free to reply to your post yourself, with the word "bump" in the text. This will *bump* your post back up to the top of the board.
  • If you haven't yet, take a peek at The CB's Newbie Section Everything that you need to know is in that forum, for the most part! It's a lot of reading, we know, but this credit stuff can have a steep learning curve. In no time, you'll be posting like the pros!
  • This is also a good place to start for Business Credit Newbies
  • If you find that someone is discourteous to you, use the REPORT button at the bottom of every post - that will ensure that a moderator or admin looks at the post and decides if it is against the CB's TOS
  • Off -topic posts should go in the fun place known as the CB General Forum

Finally, this thread will explain our position on Solicitations and Advertising

We do not allow solicitation or advertising on any forum on creditboards, including the business forum.

Again, welcome to the CreditBoards family!

If you can't get them off DNB they will kill your credit even with the long history and non profits are hard to build credit with, may just be better off starting a new company.

Hello,

How bad do you want to keep the 30 year old corp? They can be removed. I have done it.

Good Luck

You could get them removed but like I said DNB doesn't like to go with the flow some times. And as you see it may magically keep popping up from time to time.

Hello Brndnh721,

Here is the perfect example of using the DNB creditbuilder service. When you pay for that service DNB lists what you tell them. Of course they only want to get money from you so use that wedge to your advantage, but be honest and don't lie about your credit or tradelines, it could come back to bite you in the future.

Good Luck.

They just don't list what you tell them! That need to verify the info first and some companies just won't give them any info. Another prime reason why so many creditors don't use DNB any more.

Hello Brndnh721093456782654,

How can you talk about something that you have never used? If you are saying that I am a DNB Sales Rep then you are so far from the truth and this proves my point even more. For me to communicate with you is useless. Your under skilled in the building of real business credit. Stick with dept stores and retail credit cards, don't try to step with the Big Dogs you're a flea.

Good Luck.

That's odd coming from some one who hasn't shared any info about getting all these major accounts you seem to have! I do consulting and have more then a few try using those products and it does nothing for them.. The only time It would be worth it is if you have very large trades that don't report to get them added and even then it's not guranteed they will even give the info to DNB. So you can move on you have given no useful advice on anything. Idiot!
