I have 5 medical bills from the same collection company that is on my credit report that are all paid. There is 1 that has not been paid and it is by the same company (to total 6 collections). Ok. The first I need to do is...

1. Write a letter to the CRAs asking that they remove my old addresses? I have about 5 different addresses in my credit report.

WHYCHAT...please advise :-)

I forgot to add that I did opt out already. :-)

My progress:

I ordered my credit report from all 3 CRAs for review. I will get it in 15 days I believe and will post when I have received them. If I understand correctly, I am supposed to opt out, which I did and also delete old addresses if I can. ( I have like 5 or 6 addresses with a couple being listed more than once and I have also found that some of them are wrong)

You are on the right track, once your reports have been purged of old and incorrect addresses you can send each CRA this:

List ALL medical accounts as they appear on the report you are disputing

One question Why Chat...

I have two old tradelines (good ones) that are connected an address I had in North Carolina. I no longer have relationships with these TL because I no longer have accounts with them. Do I still need to update my address with them? I believe I saw something about if you delete addresses, my good CLOSED accounts might disappear with the old address.

Thanks

Write or call the old good tradeline accounts and tell them you would like your address updated in their records as you plan on doing business with them again in the future.

Unfortunately,

I cannot update my address with the NC Credit Union in North Carolina because I am no longer a member of the credit union. I was able to update my address with 2 other old TLs but not the credit union. :-(

Well, do you still get any mail or e-mail from them??

You might lose them on your reports IF they are updating

Ok Why Chat...I looked more carefully at the Credit Union from North Carolina and they haven't reported since 2007 so I should be ok with deleting the address connected to that one right?

I am new to this forum. My situation is somewhat unique. I have been very responsible financially. Except that about 4 of my medical bills (copayments about $50) got reported to CRA's. This combined with me closing the unused CC accounts has resulted in 120 pts drop in my credit score (750 -> 630). It has resulted in a mortgage denial. So I want to fix that problem.

I could easily pay off those bills, but it would still show on my CR as paid collections. I pay thousands worth of medical bills every year, but somehow these fell through the cracks.

Have gone through the forums in detail. Below is my plan and want some clarification from the group.

Step 1. Opt out.

Q: Do I opt out electronically for 5 years or by mail forever?

Step 2. Remove old addresses with CRA’s.

Q: How to mail the letter CM(RR)? Is there a template?

Step 3. Pre-Hippa letters to each CRAs

Q: Use this template? http://whychat.5u.com/hipaadisp.html

Step 4: IF the disputes "remain" then send the follow up medical DV to CAs.

Q: All disputes to the one CA that is reporting to CRAs in the SAME CMRR envelope?

Want to double check the templates since they seem a few years old, and laws could change. Will update about the progress.

Thanks for your time.

Long time no type. :-) I have been ill and unable to finish this process but I am determined to finish it now. In my post above you gave me a link to send to CRAs. Eventhough I paid 4 of the accounts to zero I should use this letter?

Who did you pay??

If you paid the OC with the HIPAA letter then you will have few problems getting these deleted from your reports, if you paid the reporting CA then it will be more difficult.

Yes, send the initial dispute letter to each CRA listing ALL medical accounts, paid or unpaid.

I paid the CA when I bought my house last May. I received an email from Equifax that my dispute is in progress and if I want to see the results online, to click a link. Do I want to do that? I sent the letters to all CRA's. Waiting to hear from Transunion and Experian.

Whychat...question, I hear alot about people going through backdoor in Equifax. Is this possible for me to do to see if they deleted any of the collections I disputed? How do I go about doing this?

You go to their website and click on "new dispute" DO NOT ACTUALLY MAKE A NEW DISPUTE- DO NOT GIVE AN E-MAIL ADDRESS- BE CAREFUL THAT YOU DO NOT OPT BACK IN. This will pull up your current report.

Ok. I have not heard from Transunion yet or Experian. I got the green card back from Equifax and all of the medical collections says "reinvestigation in progress".

Thanks Whychat!

Whychat...

How long should I wait to get the green card back? I got the green card from Equifax on 7/9. Does it usually take this long for Transunion and Experian to respond?

WHAT "green card" ?? is this from the follow up dispute??

It takes much longer for correspondence sent CMRR to be processed as it must be signed for and is handled in a different department than your initial dispute ( sent certified only without the RR)

I was talking about the green card from the initiate dispute to CRAs. Ok...I received the green card back from Equifax but not Experian and Transunion...I will be patient. :)
