Simple question that I'm asking for a friend coming to the states for vacation later in the year. Are there any Canadian credit cards without ForEx fees? Just by a quick [uneducated] look, all the cards I've seen charge 2.5%.

As far as I know every issuer in the country charges a fee. Most are 2.5%. Desjardins Visa charges 1.8%, which is the lowest in the country.

I would say just enjoy his vacation. Lets just say for example your friend spends $1,000 while traveling. Even if he finds a card with a 1% less foreign exchange fee, that's only $10. Nothing to get concerned about.

If your friend is going to have continual expenses in the U.S., maybe look at RBC Bank's cross border service at http://www.rbcbankusa.com, where he can maintain a US bank and credit card account, with the ability to transfer money online from their Canadian accounts.
