I am attempting to purchase a car and have a slight problem with the paperwork. My father is co-signing and we do not want him on the registration. He is concerned about liability in the event of an accident. We had a used dealer do this about 10 years ago for us, but are having no luck getting it done today. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make this happen? We want him on the loan, but not on the registration / title.

Thanks in advance!

What state are you in??

It may be dependent on the Finance Co. at this point, even though he's cosigning it may be the fact that they are looking that he has some sort of legal rights to the vehicle if you were to default

That decision would rest solely in the approving lenders hands. Not the dealer, dealer won't care one way or another.
