It's curious that in the gender-portion of that census report, there is no accounting for age and years of experience (aside from not including kids below age 18).

For all we know, this "gender gap" could simply be saying that older people and more experienced people make more in a given field than young people. Which to some degree is likely, since other parts of the report show women have tended to constitute a greater portion of graduates as the years have progressed recently.

Or not. No way to tell.

Would be more useful if the data was presented by age cohorts.

Also, contrary to what the Business Insider article assumes, the Census report does not compare gender differences in actual fields of work... only in the area of training. E.g., it doesn't say that male engineers make more than female engineers, only that men who have a bachelor's degree in engineering make more than women who have a bachelor's degree in engineering. There IS a difference. And I suspect a pretty big difference under the umbrella of "Business" especially.

Lot of variables here that either were not considered or just not presented in the report.

If that's true then why did every guy I date before I got married make less money than me...... :P

Ahem, some women just go for a certain type ^_^

Is that your wallet in your pants or are you just happy to see me?

THAT's my type.

Seriously tho, what you earn is not always an indicator of one's net worth.

..and one's net worth is not always an indicator of one's WORTH either. ;)
