I think AmEx is either scrubbing their records, or are deliberately not finding those accounts

I'll keep trying. Maybe I'll find one of those unicorns who lets me fax in my credit report or something.

I want this card :cry2:

they could frontdate it 5 years from now so it destroys my AAoA and I'd take it.

Nah, I screwed up thinking the app system would pull a fresh report but they used an AR soft pull from the previous that had an $8k balance rather than a 0 balance on my NFCU that i probably would of been approved with because that was the only reason given for denial.

Anyway, now I know how to work their system. AMEX will offer you pre-approvals such as upgrade to platinum when I have 0 balance (like my reports) and offer me nothing if I have a large balance (hate my reports)

I will use that to know I when to apply next time I do. I currently have an 8k balance due to NFCU 0% BT parked in a high yield checking account so waiting for that to run out and then I'll try for the BCP. I rather get the interest cash now than the BCP.

I read that but for some reason I thought you had already got them to pull a new report.

I haven't had a preapproval, ever. Well, in 2000 I did, but apparently there is no record I ever accepted it.

Yea I called to get recon which prompted a hard pull and manual review and was then denied for my baddies.

I should have been patient instead and waitied the following month to apply in order to let them have a newer AR report. The automated system would have probably approved me since the only thing it didn't like was my util. <_<

One thing that was a little strange about the call.

"Which card did you have in 2000? Was it a BCP?"

Maybe he is new.

They still can't find the old account.

I wonder if this is a bad sign. When I called this time, the guy was a nice CS guy, but I got the recording beep like is there when talking to FR.

I don't think they have to, and they can charge fees for it if they do elect to. That makes them look like a pretty sucky mortgagee, but so many folks are stuck now.

Just catching up on this thread... congrats on the BCP, if you dont mind what was your experience with AMEX that you were somewhat expecting the FR ?

I was an AU on the U. S. S. BobWang when it started sinking. When they demanded copies of all our physical Social Security cards, I was one of the four or so who no longer had theirs. I could not get it replaced in time. I then made the brilliant deduction that I should apply for a Platinum card. My application was approved. I got the FR before the card that time also. They said I failed it.

So, I waited almost a year and tried again, with the results seen here in this thread.
