My CPA told me to NEVER e-file. They are shady and can go back in and take money out of your account (justified or not). The government knows too much about you already - I certainly do not want them knowing my bank account info.

I'd rather wait for the check - but that is just me.

Makes total sense. I'm entirely too impatient, though.

Anyway....the $$ showed up tonight in our account so we will be able to sign the lease tomorrow and get the hell out of here. It is SUCH a relief. We were so afraid we wouldn't find anything we like before the sheriff sale.

Now we're one step closer to moving on and putting all of this behind us for good. :good:

While it makes total sense, what makes you think they can't do that now if you get a paper check?

I know I was just coming to post this morning it was in there.. now I can pay off a couple CC's.. :yahoo:

Bf hasn't said if he got his yet or not... Yeah if it says by the 12th/13th I think that means they processed it, it's just up to your bank to post it.. might be running late with processing. I'd call them around 8am and see if they submitted it yet. At least that's when my bank usually finishes up with the postings for the day from the day before

The IRS has your SSN...they can find out whatever they want about you with that. And I'd rather take my chances with the IRS than USPS delivering me a check.

I second this. I always chuckle at the people here in the office who say they won't E-file or direct deposit because they don't want the IRS having their bank account number. Like they don't already have it, or can't get it if they want it?

Oh, I'd guess they can get your bank account info even if you don't provide it to them

But you can get any refund due paid via check or DD whether you file e-file or paper. :dntknw:

eta: I'm not actually waiting for my refund for anything, it seems like a bad idea to rely on a refund for stuff, particularly with the IRS  but I am getting annoyed with their website. Now I have some weirdo generic message that says:

Your tax return has been received and is being processed.
If you file a complete and accurate tax return, your refund will be issued:

within six weeks of the received date.

Shady critters.

Mine says it was received and is in process and I should get it by the 21st.

In the past, I've gone by the schedule they put out and it's been fairly accurate.

I dont have an immediate plan for mine though DH called this morning saying he had an idea of what to do with it... since its home improvement related, I will not kick his butt for telling me what to do with my part of the $$$ ;)

our state refunds get sent rather quickly on a rolling basis... not unusual to have it EFT'd into your bank account 3 biz days after filing

Yeah, I got our state refund within a week.

It is a damn good thing it's been delayed. I have zero self control, and there's a trip I desperately want to take, and I would have totally booked it despite it not being at all reasonable.

Where's My Refund says it was direct deposited on the 7th, so I'm assuming my bank just hasn't credited it yet. Which is weird, it's usually very fast. I had another payment sent yesterday morning, and it was available yesterday afternoon.

I was a little off on the amount, too. It's $435, not $20. Guess I need to work on my withholdings more

Quick question on showing up on IRS "Where is my refund" - I e-filed on Sunday and I was hoping to show up on the site with data for direct deposit, but nothing so far. Based on my e-Filed date, I was supposed to get the refund deposited on Wed 15th.

Does anyone know how long it takes for the status to show up? As of now, it says I make a mistake on my input entries...

If you opened a bank account in the US, you already gave the IRS the information they need.. the IRS have recently implemented a large number of upgrades into their systems - it's targeted though at catching folks, more than speeding up your refunds...the application process for that gig consisted of filling about 10 pages of financial disclosure...umm...I'll pass..
