Hi I am new to this forum. I had a checking account with Citibank for 8 yrs which was closed last year due to NSF of $189. I had it off this month and wanted to open a new checking account with Chase. I went today and was declined. They stated they used TransUnion and not Chexsystems. My 2 questions are 1. Do I need to follow up with Transunion as to the exact reason of the denial? (I pulled my CR with them and do not see anything bank related with the exception of a line of credit that I settled with Citi 2 yrs ago.) 2. If I already paid Citi for the NSF shouldn't whatever information that they are reporting be deleted?

It sounds to me that it has nothing do to with your Transunion report

I am guessing that it is something reported to Chexsystems Or EWS (Chase uses both)

It has been reported that there are times that Chase will make exceptions even if you are reported to Chexsystems depending on what your credit looks like

Chase does offer second chance checking but you have to apply in person for this account. I have been told that some are offered it right away if they are denied for a regular checking.

Paying off the debt owed to the reporting bank does not remove you from Chexsystems but they would need to be certain to show that no debt is owed. Where do you live? What is your zip code there? Maybe I can help suggest a local bank

I live in NYC 11372. I was offered the second chance checking from Chase but declined because there was a $15 monthly fee and too many restrictions.

In my experience Chase is iffy.

I had 4 Chex entries ranging from $125.00 to $1100.00. They opened a standard (non- second chance account for me) Nothing listed as fraud. My ex husband had the same 4 chex entries minus the Woodforest National bank, nothing as fraud and he was outright declined by the same branch. Only difference is that his credit was horrendous. (400's)

i am currently listed with ChexSystems...

i recently opened a regular checking and savings account online about 4 weeks ago now, and have been actively using both accounts with my Chase debit VISA since. I also used a $125 promotional code i found on the floor of my condo lobby...both accounts were opened immediately, my debit VISA arrived within 5 business days, and the promotional $125 was added to my account within 5 business as well. Just an FYI...have no idea how or why they didn't catch my listing on ChexSystems...

I recently opened a checking with Chase. I'm on Chex and EWS. Account has been open slightly more than a month now.

About a week after opening the account, I ordered my Chex, EQ, EX, and TU reports. No inquiries on Chex EQ nor EX, *but* Chase *did* soft pull my TU.

Maybe Chase really is using TU instead of Chex as they seem to have implied to the OP. If so, I wonder what they look for, since my TU does not exactly look awesome lol. (still disputing various baddies)

I would try for a membership with People's Alliance Federal Credit Union and see if they can help you
