So if one extends this further, a report with a $250,000 credit limit, reporting a $240,00 balance, would be better off than someone with a $300 limit reporting with a balance of $200--all other things being equal?

Surely not, Shirley:-)

Maybe it looks at the actual balance of that line itself before it decides to include? :dntknw: So if you have say 30k on a 50k limit it could count it but if it's a miniscule balance it doesn't? I could totally see programming logic for that. Anyone care to go buy a Benz on their card and test this out? :P

The FICO Estimator uses actual dollars for balances, with no mention of credit limits.
So, it's not just based on percentages.

So, dropping from $10/$10k = 0.1% to $2/$10k = 0.02% tanked my TransRisk FAKO 4 points.

It appears that anything < 0.01% utilization is considered 0% by TransRisk. :D

Bob,

This may not be the right place to ask you, and I'll happily start a new thread if you wish! I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of places to go to open new accounts to begin rebuilding credit? I have deleted most all my baddies and want to get my score up so I can purchase a new car a little later this year. :)

Thanks, CalPop!

CalPop:
I'm not the guy to ask about rebuilding credit.
Many others have far more experience in that than I do.
My advice would be to just take some time to read about others' rebuilding experiences.

The best thing for your credit profile is to keep working on the baddies, while opening accounts with lenient issuers.

That said, I like knowing where I stand, and joining DCU for their Equifax FICO would be one of my suggestions.

Got ES (Experimental Subject) added to electric bill.

Had her apply for PSECU membership on Friday 3/23/2012.

Asked her on Tuesday whether she had heard from them.

e-mail requesting address verification was in her junk mail folder.

PSECU membership is not important to her, LOW priority .

We'll see if she gets around to contacting them.

She did call.

Driver's License and utility bill with matching addresses is sufficient.

Faxed to PSECU. :D

PSECU doesn't want to let her in.

They are VERY suspicious.

ES has called numerous times, and they tell her they're still reviewing her application.

Interrogations have gone something like this:

Q: I see you are a member of NFCU, why do you want to join PSECU?

Q: I see your name on ONE utility bill, do you have any others?

Q: Do you actually pay that utility bill?

Q: Do you pay rent?

Q: Where do you get your mail delivered?

Q: Are you related?

Q: I see you're an AU on his BofA card, what's your relationship again?

Q: Exactly WHY do you want to join PSECU?
