So Verichek was reporting a $122 collection on my credit reports. I used the Texas DV and TFC and got that extinguished along with a letter from them. Today I got my chex report and I have the same debt $121.91 being report three times under retail information: Date of check 12/08/2008
Check Number 58
Amount of check $121.90 and the same account number on all three.

How do I dispute that? Is it ok to dispute over the phone or is chex like the other cra's, all by mail? Sorry first time to this forum so I havent read any stickies yet.

Ok I've gone and read stickies and see the 5 steps, I am going to send the dispute for the NSF being reported on Chex. But under retail information is where the above is listed and it says to contact Certegy Check Services etc Tampa, FL. So do I send a dispute to them as well for the triplicate but inaccurate entries or send them a Texas DV? Confused on how to go about that part.

I know my post was clear as mud, I was multi tasking when I posted... holding a 6 month old in my lap, trying to cook, on creditboards and on the phone with DH.

I was denied by Alliant Credit Union and it was because of Chex. When I got my report today there is a NSF reporting and i've read the stickies and will follow the 5 steps to dispute that, letters typed, CMRR filled out ready to go tomorrow.

BUT....I noticed the listing under retail information for a NSF from 2008 for $121.90 that was previously being reported on my credit reports from the big 3 by Verichek. I sent them a Texas DV and they folded and deleted. So the information on the Chex report says to contact Certegy in Tampa, FL for anything under retail information. Would I send them a Texas DV (as I would a regular CRA) or would I follow the Chex dispute process for the retail information. This account is being reported three times same information.

Also is the information in the retail section affecting me being denied by a credit union or just the NSF information under reported information?

I would dispute it with chexsystems.. Certegy is what has replaced what they use to call SCAN
Certegy and ChexSystems (Efunds) are both an FIS company so unfortunately they are "sharing" information now.

As if it wasn't bad enough that the majority of people that are reported to Chexsystems are also reported to Early Warning Services(EWS) but now the unfortunate news is that those with Telecheck issues are also reported to EWS.

Early Warning Systems (previously Primary Payment Systems) is now being used by banks and credit unions the same as chexsystems.

Chexsystems began in 1971. Please keep in mind that ChexSystems, Inc and ChexSystems Collection Agency are now owned by eFunds. eFunds Corporation is the nation's leader in electronic payments and risk management. They acquired National Check Protection Services (NCPS) back in May 2005. Today, ChexSystems dominates the consumer banking industry as the primary check verifications and risk management company. In 2007 FIS acquired eFunds Corporation. Right before that in February 2006 FIS acquired Certegy. EWS also signed a multi-year contract with eFunds Corp(chexsystems) April 2007.

Although Deluxe Corporation did seperate from eFunds back in December of 2000, they are now in partnership with Early Warning Services

Anything negative on your report can cause you to be denied so yes this is very possible as to why Alliant Credit Union denied you. They may also use EWS as well (I am not certain)
