I was surprised to learn just now that my parents don't have to be NFCU members as long as they are retired military.

What is weird is, the lady didn't ask me a single question about my father - other than whether or not he was military, what branch, and for how long.

Then she said welcome to NFCU, and here is your access #.

Had I known my parents didn't have to be members, I would have joined a long time ago. I was waiting for a convenient time for my folks to take a INQ on their credit report which was still a long ways away.

So what is so great about NFCU? seems like everyone on the board is even more obsessed with them than PSECU

Wow awesome!

I wonder if I should apply for a CC now with them or if I should wait... My UTIL % is pretty awful right now since I balance transferred my auto loan to CC's at 0% APR

Why not? You went through heck tying to join...what was the purpose if you're not gonna apply for anything?

I am going to wait just a little bit to let some new AU's appear on my CR I think that my mom just put me on... that should give me a decent FICO boost before my application.

Did you join in the branch or over the phone? Just curious as Online requires your qualifying family member's SSN and you said they didn't collect very much info on your qualifying family member.

Only thing I can think of is they pulled my credit and saw USAA auto loans and credit cards ... auto loans = military I believe
