Keep in mind that Walmart is probably providing TransUnion FICO 2004.
myFICO provides the outdated TransUnion FICO 1998.

I'm quite sure Walmart is using the updated 2004 algorithm and not the old 1998 scoring.

So, I would put more weight on the Walmart TU04 FICO, and ignore the myFICO TU98 score.

Just curious, how are you sure? I would love to dump quarterly monitoring also and I will if I find out for sure that this score is in fact TU04!

I am not completely sure, but I think Walmart would provide the same score that GEMB uses for credit decisions.
If so, I'm pretty positive GEMB is using the 2004 model, and not the obsolete 1998 scoring.

Since this is promoted as a real FICO, if it doesn't match up with myFICO, I'm betting 2004 at Walmart, because we know myFICO is providing 1998.

I see the offer, but what if my FICO is lower than it was when I got my last increase from WM? This has been hands-down the worst year of my life - divorce, deaths in the family, lost my job through no fault of my own (for real). I'm staying current on my bills, but just barely. I hit the luv button a few weeks ago for my Firestone account and got a CL decrease. :cry2:

Any unintended consequences that anyone can think of before I hit the button?

.
In other words, is it possible GEMB will use my score against me (assuming it's gone down) on all my GEMB accounts?

GEMB is probably doing Account Review soft inquiries on you any way.
So, no, I don't think there is a down side.
Knowledge is power. ;)

I think the main reason this thread beat treefroggers is because the title implies FREE SCORE with a subtle mention of for Walmart cardholders in the subtitle. I think treefrogger needs to work on his marketing in order to learn how to reach a bigger audience.

Yeah, it occurred to me that they're probably softing periodically anyway. It's just that the thing with Firestone was a surprise that I'd rather not repeat on my other accounts. I'm a-skeert!!

I guess GEMB COULD be providing a FICO08, but I don't think that model is in widespread use yet.

Too bad its way off from my actual FICO. This score was 696, actual was 664. Not sure how they are calculating it, because its not even close to MPM or my other monitoring services.

You realize MPM is not FICO, right?

ETA; As far as I know, ScoreWatch, either from equifax.com or myfico.com, (EQ) and myfico.com's Quarterly Monitoring (TU) are the only two monitoring services that provide real FICO's. All of the other monitoring services are FAKO, such as EDIT/MPM, USAA, CreditSecure, etc.

Anyone know how likely GEMB will issue a card to someone who has charged off GEMB cards in the past?

I charged off JCP many moons ago and was approved for Amazon last year. I would love to get my TU FICO, but danggggg I don't want this card! Why can't they add this to all their cards? :cry2:

My strategy might be to get the WM Discover instead of the store card. It appears that there are reports of the FICO being available on the Discover as well.

LOL...By all means I did not intend to rain on treefoggers parade. Marketing?? Gotta love your sense of humor tho.

Simply stating what i seen this morning on Wally Worlds website is all.

I don't think I can talk myself into applying for this. I just know I'm gonna get some crap limit because GEMB never likes me. :P

BW, you have a healthy limit with them on this Discover Card version, don't you? Maybe there's hope for me and them. Nah.... :P

Dangit... I don't really want this card, but if I were to try for it, it would be the Discover flavor of it. Decisions, decisions....

Ok, anyone here who decides to apply really needs to post which bureau they pulled and your limit. I want to see Bob get a $500 limit. :P
