You'll never convince me that they weren't just lazy buffoons. I've read the Code of Ethics, and I've read what the IAFF has said. Call me wrong, but then I'll just call you a slack-jawed derp. Only America can you go against the code of Ethics for your profession and be praised for it.

I wasn't even talking to you. Don't you have a job now? It offends me that you have internet access during the day.

And, how much time have you spent outside of America? I thought so. Pipe down, and let ME tell you - .. only in America can you not pay for a service, still expect that service, and bitch and moan about not getting that service, and get a bunch of people on your side. True story.

Seems that this to you is mostly the fault of the firefighters?

It is quite simple actually, the homeowner did not pay the required fee. If I do not pay my water bill, why would I get angry when I can't shower?

The blame here is totally misdirected.Perhaps the homeowner should have done more preblaze thinking.

um, I just agreed with Hinkle.

I wouldn't be too sure. Any firefighter who would let this happen can't take too much pride in their work. They're probably just there to collect a paycheck and, if that's the case, probably aren't too bothered by it. They're not firefighters to help people, they're firefighters for the image...whatever that may be.

obviously you've never been married to a FF  you think they're in just to collect a paycheck? especially volunteers?

As for not doing to help people and only for image, I am 99.6983745% sure you do not hang out with a lot of professional FFs.

Not in areas where fire fighters are allowed stand around and watch a fire.

What about big cities where ambulance drivers are on coffee break and don't help a distressed pregnant woman? Or is your rant only about rural areas serviced by volunteer FFs who do this for love of the job and to help their community? Leaving their kids' ballgames, dinner with the fam, church, or whatever else is going on to help others?

They should totally lobby for county wide fire proctection, blah blah, and everything else. But, meanwhile, they should still pay the subscription fee, or face the consequences. Those two are separate issues. He doesn't get more sympathy because he chose to let his house go down in flames, before speaking out.
