I'm not arguing for this outfit, I'm just saying you should not call it a scam if you don't know for sure.

THAT is new since the posts yesterday...The bottom of the main (index) page - text link says "disclosures"
I'm not arguing for this outfit, I'm just saying you should not call it a scam if you don't know for sure.
It is also worth noting that those disclosures are the most half-assed attempt I have ever seen. While it links to the prime, it fails to disclose properly what the additive value is going to be.
I still have to wonder WHY they do not want to provide PROPER disclosures.

ETA: also, there are graphics of VISA and MC on the site, but not on the card that is provided as an illustration of the anacott card. Honestly, I was expecting one of those catalog accounts, or one of those websites where the card is only good for that merchant - instead, I think it is a misleading graphic, making people think they are getting a major credit card.
Download or save a screen shot and then tell MC and VISA their logo is being used on that site.
Now see if the logo disappears.

Centex, I saw the disclosure link on the application page last night, just didn't post it.
At the time of my last post yesterday, there were no disclosures except for teh terms and conditions link. The disclosures (such as they are) on the app page were also not present at the time of my last post yesterday. The site got a makeover sometime after yesterday afternoon. Whether it was because of the posts here or elsewhere, don't know...but things definitely changed.
I agree that this is a questionable website, because financial institutions do not use private registrations, and the SSL cert is the one provided by GoDaddy - not the norm for financial institutions. But I know the disclosure was there. Moot point, anyway.

I fully concur, which is why I suggested it may only be a merchandise card in one of the early posts yesterday.

hmm...that could be interesting

knowing what you know about credit products, do YOU really consider that ANYWHERE even close to complete in the spirit by which the Fed contemplated disclosure requirements? I sure don't.
What are they measuring the prime by, what is the additive value, what is the address for billing disputes, hell, what is the address to begin with...
Because, ya know...what they give does not cut it except and unless the intent is to prey upon the desparate...
Billing Rights: Information on your rights to dispute transactions and how to exercise those rights is provided in the Additional Disclosures or Card Agreement that will be provided to you before you can begin using your new card.
yeah right...give us your information and we will let you know LATER what you are actually agreeing to.
I think not...

Some of the things I've noticed besides what has already been mentioned on this forum:
- The UK address for the credit card processor is a residential address. Why would an actual financial institution use a hokey little credit card processor like Allied Wallet? That was pretty freaky.
- Couldn't find any info on "Deutschland Financial Services".
- Couldn't find the Anacott Financial LLC filing in the Pennsylvania Secretary of State database. (Since then some one on here mentioned they filed articles of inc. just LAST MONTH!) So what's this whole 2005 thing?
- No info on the website about the underwriting bank. Hello?
- The submit button on the make a payment tab of the website says, "submit application" - what??
- Has anyone looked at the address they list in Philly? The address is part of a virtual office space company - American Executive Centers. These are office spaces where you rent an address (like a commercial version of a hotel room or conference room) when you don't have your own permanent office. They're generally used by entrepreneurs as temporary offices.
http://www.americane...ivecenters.com/
- I took a look at the source code on the website. GET THIS: The site was ripped off from American General Financial Services which is owned by AIG, one of the largest financial institutions in the world. The site builder simply used a free tool called HTTrack to copy the AGF site and then they modified it with the Anacott logo and their own content.
- I have not done any investigation on the phone number but I'm betting that if I did, we'd see that the phone number was setup with the last couple of months.
- And of course I have not gotten the promised email of card issuance though it was promised to have been received within 3 business days.
I called them and questioned their legitimacy and the guy on the phone assured me that they were a legitimate outfit but could not provide any source of proof for me to look at.
I feel incredibly stupid to have submitted an app to them without noticing these things first. But now that I have, I'm doing what I can to see they are found out. I would encourage you all to do the same as the more of us working on this, the more authorities will hear about it and hopefully take action.
- I'm notifying the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center and the FBI office in Philly.
- I'm notifying American General Finance and AIG that their website was ripped off.
- I'm notifying Allied Wallet (assuming they are not in on this whole thing) that they are providing payment processing for a fraudulent credit scam.
- I'm notifying American Executive Centers that they are hosting a company that is under suspicion of financial and credit fraud.
If anyone can think of anything else that can be done, that would be great.

Yes they did. And because I was in a hurry with other apps, I did it in haste. Afterward I stopped to look at them closer and all this stuff started coming out. Then I kicked myself for the carelessness and got my card canceled and moved the money out of my checking and got ID insurance from Zander.

They are reading the forum.
Check out the email I just got from them:
Daniel:
After reading your email, which was sent to us from Allied Wallet this
evening, we see that you are very unhappy with our company. It appears that
you included a link to www.creditboards.com in the email as well. After
reading your postings, as well as others postings, we have determined that
you and three other people are unhappy with our company. We are sorry to
hear this. All you had to do is simply call us and we would have canceled
your account and refunded your $99. Neither you nor any of the other
posters on that thread have waited the 14 days to receive the card.
However, no need to worry any further as we are canceling your account for
you and refunding your $99. (Please note refunds take 3-5 BUSINESS days,
which do not include weekends)
If you or anybody else seems to think we are a scam why not call and talk
to us, or at the bare minimum wait and see if you get the card in the mail?
Either way we are sorry to hear that you were so upset and wish you and the
others in that thread the best of luck. In regards to contacting all of the
entities you listed in the email by all means go ahead as we have nothing
to hide.
Thank You,
Support Staff

the one thing i do is call every morning to check the status and see if they send it out and everytime i get different info from each person I talk to....man i feel like a sucker!
I also ask about what i get approved for and they always have something different too.
I did do some research on google and there was a aspire visa that was offered by anacott and bad reviews on it so i would really like to see what happens.

I just checked out the site again and i notice they took off the visa and mcc logo off.......and if you check out the credit report section it looks like they try to cover up another webpage....it looks really funny.
The MC and VISA logo is still there.

I am going to give them benefit of doubt and wait full five business days then call them back at the end to check on status...I will call everyday until the 10-14 day period is up (if I don't receive a card). I will at least wait through the "terms" they give you as to when you should receive your card and then if I don't.....well hello reporting them to the authorities!
They very well could operate like those internet payday loan companies, but you never know.
