I'm going to be asking for ID from all my credit-paying clients, I'll tell them it's only for age verification--however I will actually be asking for it to compare the signature/name on the card w/the signature/name on the id (even if the person is like 80 years old)!

BWAAAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHHAAHA none of y'all will be able to report me to VISA or MC as you can't prove I'm violating their policy :)

So we're gonna add discrimination to the list of your shortcomings.

Wow, I love your immaturity. I'm sure it wouldn't take long for someone to figure out where you live and check out the store you work at. Just because you post anonymously doesn't mean you can't be found.

Better check with the store owner if that is a wise idea since the owner is the one who will suffer any fines

...and those fines can be $1,000's

...and the loss of credit card service can also happen for multiple violations

And you forget that a store can ALWAYS ask for ID on age-restricted items...many liquor stores card everyone coming through the line, including the grey-hairs.

Please don't any of you threaten each other, whether you mean it or not. These comments are immature and silly.

Whatever, no threats.

I would like to point out at no point was there a threat. I was stating fact. If stating a fact is now a threat, then I would wager that a good 99.9% of this board as well as a good 99.9% of the internet is a threat.

If you still think I'm threatening, then fine, I'll apologize. But I will not apologize for making a statement of fact.

IDing for liquor should either be:

1) ID everyone

2) ID no one

You are not going to ask NOBODY for ID for controlled substances

BOOZE and CANCER STICKS IS EVERYBODY UP TO LIKE 40 NO MATTER WHAT PAYMENT ITEM THEY USE

You don't ask for ID on somebody 75 or 80 years old because they buy booze or cancer sticks with their credit card

How do I know the customer isn't a minor who's very good at looking older (make-up/wig/skin creams/etc). I must ID the older-looking people also (70-80-90, well I guess 90 year olds generally don't purchase booze, but you never can be too safe I say).

I asked one girl who I knew for a fact was 25+ for ID for cancer sticks

SHE WAS 18 YEARS OLD THAT DAY :)

On the other side of the story there was another girl that I knew was 12 years old

SHE WAS AS OLD AS ME :blush2:

BUT 70--80--90 THAT LACKS LOGIC

When you have a full head of snow white hair and a white beard, I think I'm old enough to dispense with showing ID when I wanta buy booze. Especially when I get asked if I wanna play Santa Clause at christmas time. :)

Always be conservative when asking for identification. You never know when that person who "looks old enough" might be bait for a State or Local law enforcement sting operation.
