I can't believe both of these companies tell me that it's store policy to require ID for credit card purchases, they say because of the area I live in, I could see that, but than again they are breaking the rules of the card agreement, I am going to call corporation on both of these companies and see what they have to say about this, if they say it's still the policy of the corporation how should I go about it? I am going to report them to the cc companies next!

SORRY...STORE POLICY CAN'T OVER-RULE CREDIT CARD COMPANY POLICY

It doesn't work that way...

Absolutely isn't company policy at Rite Aid. I can't say for the pizza clown.

OP did not say COMPANY policy...they said STORE policy. Big difference.

I say let the risk managers do their jobs...

Of course, OP also does not indicate that the sale was refused either. People forget that a retailer can ask for ID if they choose...they just cannot condition the completion of MOST sales upon a decision to present or not present ID...

The Rite Aid stores have to follow the corporate policy. The corporate policy is they press the cash key if customer is paying cash or press the credit key (which will process as credit or debit depending what the customer does on the pinpad) if someone is paying with a card. That is all they are to do. Nothing more. They are not supposed to ask for any ID at the time the payment is collected. If they need to ask for ID for an age restricted item this takes place before the total is stated and returned to the customer immediately.

ID FOR AGE RESTRICTED ITEM WOULD EVEN HAPPEN WITH CASH

But it is asked for at the time THAT specifc product is scanned...not when you ask for the payment item

NEWS! I called up corperation at both locations they are both telling me it's company policy to require ID when using a credit card because of all the credit card fraud, I would like everyone here to report these stores with me so we can get something done about this, because they do not understand what the hell I am telling them and they need to get a $5,000 five to get that little guy behind his desks attention, neither said they will change there policy, I told them good I am reporting your company, stores, for violation of your credit card agreement, It's not my fault some salamanders keep defrauding there stores, and now I have to show my information to some salamander behind the counter because they can't figure out a way to fix this..

I believe to solve 80% of all credit card fraud would be to implement a system where it checks the zip code of the billing address, I know almost anyone would who steal a credit card would never know this information, It would solve that problem, solve us from giving our info out to a stranger and I really wouldn't mind doing this every time, or at least make it on purchases of $20 or more or something similar I know some places do this, I think it should be done nationwide..

Certain states are now putting in a regulation to make it so you must show ID when using a credit card, and they can also set minimum and maximum purchases without affecting the credit card TOS because state law over rules there agreement.. sad they might win.. I stopped shopping at stores that make me spend $5 or $10 or try to charge me $1 if I don't spend that much.

tedjones aka rlee, have you not noticed a lot of your posts never show due to your use of select words? You apparently don't pay attention so let me state the use of profanity is not welcomed on this site. Don't force me to do anything drastic after deciding to give you another chance.

Store doesn't get to set the policy

THERE IS NO MINIMUM CHARGE or MAXIMUM CHARGE FOR CREDIT CARDS BY CREDIT CARD POLICY

I NEVER SIGNED UP FOR A CREDIT CARD USE PERMIT...I have a license to drive a car/truck

When one has not been the subject of the claimed offending conduct, one lacks standing to make a credible complaint. Making complaints without standing is a GREAT way for companies to begin ignoring legitimate beefs...and they will claim the issue was 'overlooked' due to the number of frivolous claims creating a poor signal to noise ratio...

Then they need to be reported and you should include the names of the district manager or others above the store that you talked to. These people are not reviewing the company's policies but just making one up as they go.
