It really doesn't bother me either way (being forced to show id, or not), it's just people in this forum are so against showing id# that they will be inconvenienced and leave the establishment, and then have to go to another store if someone asks for id. My whole reason for this post is trying to figure out why some people get so upset. Seems like a silly thing to get mad at, and even sillier to actually get mad at the clerk who’s asking for it.

Also when I'm asked for an id/signature, I feel like a celebrity!!!

...and "SOME" think it is required by some LAW the way some places ask for it...some people don't know how to say NO

Well, here's one reason it bothers some of us -

We are tired of every aspect of our life being policed, especially at a business we are spending money at, especially since up until the last ten years, it was virtually unheard of.

Oh well nothing I can do about it

THAT WAS ACTUALLY AN UNDERSTATEMENT

I MADE LIKE 7 or 8 POSTS ABOUT THE REAL FACTS AS TO ASKING FOR ID AND EVERY SINGLE ONE WAS REMOVED

Facts and rules are a foreign subject to these people

Don't bother going there

We remove posts that do not follow our posting guidelines, and we reserve the right to remove any post for any reason.

THE TRUTH HURTS THEIR WEB SITE...

SO SHOWING ID (with a credit card sale) IN LOST WAGES IS A REASON TO PARTY

You are with the in crowd (IN FAVOR OF SHOWING ID)

I still want to know WHO they are protecting when they ask for ID

I don't need their protection

You LIKE the alleged "bait". It tastes good to you. You cannot resist. The proof is that you keep responding even when you don't have the excuse of other people quoting, and you never respond at all when the posts are supportive or positive... which they often are.

Re: Posts being irrelevant to the subject. You, ummm, really do NOT want to go there. If we felt the need to point them out like some sort of contest, you'd lose.

In answer to this question, as worded here, they're protecting themselves.

ETA: I should clarify... they think they're protecting themselves. Whether or not it's effective is open for debate.

I don't need their protection

Which is good, because they don't care (as much) about you. Regardless what they say (i.e.: "...for your protection..."), it isn't about you, it's about them... it's just business.

If someone shows up in LV with YOUR card that ISN'Y you, I am reasonably certain you would be appreciative of a sale not taking place PRECISELY because someone asked for ID...
