at least a year ago i disputed a collections charge to experian i think, i had never done that before and had not yet found this site; so i have done everything wrong so far! i did not send it certified (actually can't even remember if i actually sent it or just did it online). i remember getting a letter back acknowledging that i sent a dispute (but of course while purging my files i through this away. to date the PAID collections still is on my credit reports (all three) with customer disputes.

i spoke to both the ca who said that the info was given back to the hospital (because it was back in 06) and couldn't even give me the date i paid it off, just that it was indeed paid. i called the hospital and they said it was archived and couldn't give me any details, i should call the ca.

my question is should i write a good faith letter to the original creditor (hospital) asking to remove this from credit reports?

should i write a gf letter to collection agency asking to remove this from credit reports?

should i write the credit reporting agencies and tell them that they have failed to provide me with an accurate investigation and send them that threatening prehipaa letter i see out there on the websites?

what path do i take?

Take this path-

Opt out first (you usually don’t need to opted out form all creditors)

http://whychat.5u.com/OPTOUTINST.HTML

Delete any old addresses if possible

Send the Pre-HIPAA dispute to each CRA- this is used if the medical collections is reporting as PAID or UNPAID

http://whychat.5u.com/hipaadisp.html

Follow all the instructions, even if they seem a little odd-personalized stationary "Lilac or teal Fonts-

CM no RRR

If the account is NOT deleted with this initial letter, then send the medical DV to the CA who is reporting the account.

As soon as you have the green card back send the CRAs reporting the account this:

Keep all you information in one thread. Don’t start and new thread/topic!

The only communication you should have with the CA is the Medical DV.

thanks so much, i have already started my prehipaa dispute, following all instructions- but just out of curiousity, why specifically lilac or teal? definitely doing it, just wondering anyone know why those colors?

If you are handwriting in longhand on blue lined yellow pad paper you can use a standard blue ball point. If using computer font, you need to use a color that will be similar to any "background" color, ( like the "cloud" printing paper that many use). If you have a background of yellows and browns with say a "leaf" pattern you can use a brown font. The idea is to prevent the automated scanning ( and processing) of your dispute by the "reading" programs of the CRA computer systems.

Well, i got all green cards back and before i could send out follow ups both transunion and equifax sent me a letter stating that they were deleting the entry from my reports. i have not received a response from experian, but my letter gave a credit report# that was on an experian report through a third party (intellius credit program) and the credit report was not directly through experian. will this be a hold up? should i give them time to respond, give them a call to check status or just send follow-up letter?

sorry, didn't communicate clearly; i did not receive any experian investigation results letter from my pre-hipaa dispute. i was wondering if the reason why i didn't was because of the report# i gave them was not from their original credit report, but from a third party or if it made a difference... and how i should follow up

THANKS i just pulled mine direct from experian and it says verified dec 09 and remains unchanged

never received anything from them about it yet though.

should i now send the letter to the collection agencies about fraudulent verification?

No, the correct letter to send to any CA that has not been deleted from any CRA report is this;

http://whychat.5u.com/ltrcavalhipaa.html

if it is reporting with a balance due, or this;

http://whychat.5u.com/ltrcavalhipaa.html#PAID

if it is reporting as a "paid" collection.

In both cases, send the follow up letter to each CRA as soon as you have the green card back.
