First....YAY! :D:P:lol:

I'm so excited I got a letter from EX this week saying my new medical collection had been deleted! Then I get an alert from MyFICO scorewatch that my score went back up so I assume EQ deleted as well I should get a letter from them soon to confirm!

My question is what do I do now? I don't want this $32 collection to pop back up again. I'm sure it has something to do with me changing jobs around the time of this service. My guess is the lab messed up and forgot to request timely payment and when they got around to it I was no longer insured by the same company( I was at the time of service but they didn't bother to do their homework). I never got a bill from them or my physician. At this point I don't care I would gladly pay the OC (not the PITA CA)to make sure it doesn't pop back up on my report off and on for the next 5 years.

Can I continune the HIPPA process and send the letter to the OC (medical provider) with payment in full just to make sure it doesn't resurface? Or is there something else for this situation?

Thanks!

If it was deleted from your reports and you received a letter of deletion it means it can NOT legally "pop back up"

What it means ( most likely) is that the OC WAS PAID eventually by your insurance, or the account was written off. The reporting CA had NO way of verifying this account.

If you pay it now to the OC you will likely have it come BACK on your reports as a "paid" collection, which is just as bad for your score as an unpaid one, in fact it is likely WORSE as the entry would be more recent.

Thanks Why Chat!

You're right of course I don't want it to show up as paid either. The collection agency who has it is pretty much the scum of KC (KS Counselors) and I wouldn't put it past them to try and put it back in. So as always, I'll keep a close eye on my reports and if I see it pop back up with a slight change I use the copies that say it was deleted to get it back off. Right?

I hope that my physician or the insurance figured it out and it finally got paid but when I called the OC 2 months ago it was unpaid and they said they could not accept payment from me that thy didn't even have the file anymore b/c it was sent to the CA. I did call my doctors office to inquire about it too so maybe they did some research and fixed it....For now I'm just happy to be back over 700!
