Debit = as good as cash without the fear of late pmts or interest charges... plus if you bank at the right place you can get cash back/rewards from the use of debit!

How about washing your hand or using that pricey alcohol-based sanitizer after you handle money or plastic (when was the last time you washed your cards? sig would rub off, and some cards have been in wallets/pockets/who knows where else for YEARS <_<).

Good personal hygiene is the answer to 99% of swine flu paranoia. Wash your hands before touching your face or eating food. Cover your mouth.

There's more than swine flu on money LOL. e-coli anyone? (what with the people who leave the bathroom without washing up? or washing up with SOAP? or cashiers handling cards who do the same... over the years it adds up)

I saw that in walmart a few weeks back. All the cashiers were wearing latex gloves.

I couldn't if I wanted to

The CRAPPY disposable gloves are way to small

(Like for food prep or spill clean up)

Cash is a big risk these days if you are trying to avoid H1N1 Swine Flu.

No germs on that yucky fake-pen-on-a-tether you have to sign with at the POS terminal?

I saw some lady take a plastic bag and put it on her hand before she signed with the pen

I told the cashier I'm glad I got to SNEEZE in that bag before she got to use it

;):cry2::lol::rofl:

We clean the pens (not after every single customer...but more than once a day)

It is not like you can dip them in alcohol

We just use the cleaner for the registers

Debit card rewards? I had no idea!! How soon can I sign up?

I was at the grocery store the other day, and a guy took a plastic bag, put his credit card in the bag, and swiped the bagged credit card through the machine.

I asked him what he was doing, he said it was to protect his card from other dirty cards.

It can actually help the card read better when it is on it's last leg

SINCE IT IS SO HARD AND SO EXPENSIVE TO GET A FREE CARD ON THE TOLL FREE PHONE LINE

He was messing with you.

This is usually done when the magnetic strip is not reading well. Somehow it helps capture the information from the strip.

Funny how easy it is to draw Americans into a panic! My god! Wash your hands and use common sense. This H1N1 is complete BS. My step brother is a 4th year resident working at John Jay in NYC and they all laugh at the general public's ignorance to this. Their credit sucks tho! Ironic but true.

Worked fine when I swiped my card.

George, some banks and CUs now CHARGE customers a fee to replace lost/stolen card.

THEN DON'T GIVE THEM ANY BUSINESS

LOL, I don't but many people on this board do use them. (cough*Alliant*cough) I am sure there are others charging to replace cards, and I am also sure with a little grease, they will waive the fee.

FEE FOR CARD REPLACEMENT IS BASICALLY 100% PURE PROFIT

Not true, $.44 for postage, and maybe a dime for paper/ink and a quarter for the plastic and embossing. 92% profit, still not bad.

I was going to apply for an Alliant card, but the fees scared me away.
