I have a couple of medical collections showing on my credit report; $124 from 03/2006 and $120 from 07/2009.

I owe them and now have the ability to pay them off. FL is my home state so the 2006 is likely to fall off soon (I believe?)

There are NO other blemishes on my report, but as a result of these two my score has dropped 100+ points.

After reviewing other posting sites, I was convinced that sending Pay for Delete letters was the way to go.

I just sent them out to the CA's this past Friday by CMRR.

After reading about Why Chat's HIPPA technique, I'm not certain if I made the right choice.

Depending on the outcome, did this mess up my chances for using the HIPPA technique?

If not, where would I begin provided I am unsuccesful with the PFD's? OR should I emply a new technique before they reply?

No, the reporting time allowed is 7 years, so they would remain until 2013.

You are thinking of the statute of limitations - it has nothing to do with reporting. It has to do with suing you. If you were to be sued for this debt after the 3 years is up, you have an absolute defense - however, you can be sued anyway, and if you are you must present this defense.

Lots of people make this mistake. :cry2:

For now, you should probably wait and see what response you get to your offer to pay. Maybe you'll get lucky.

As mentioned above I am working to resolve 2 medical collections on my credit reports.

I have reviewed the advice to OPT-OUT and remove OLD ADDRESSES.

Please confirm my understanding as to the relevance of each.

OPT-OUT prevents the inquiries designated as “Promotional†and/or those that do NOT impact my credit rating are viewable only by ME. Is that correct? It will simply stop the promotional offers?

OLD ADDRESS deletion is primarily for preventing identity theft (?) Because my credit is Good (other than the 2 collections), then I would need to contact each and every Current Creditor, and PAST Satisfactory Creditor to confirm that they have my Current address so that they are not inadvertently deleted.

Please confirm my interpretations, as I would not want to have a previous satisfactory account removed.

Thanking you in advance.

Please confirm my interpretations, as I would not want to have a previous satisfactory account removed. If you have closed GOOD accounts on your reports, then BEFORE doing any address deletions, notify them of your current address so they can update your records, that way you will not lose any "good" accounts, obviously any CURRENT good accounts should have your correct current address

Thanking you in advance.

Incorrect on both counts.

Your data is SOLD to data miners, who then resell your data to garbage CA's and JDB's who will "match" your data with whatever old accounts, ( yours or someone elses with a similar name) and poison your reports with fraudulent and incorrect collection accounts as soon as they have been SOLD the data that you are applying for a mortgage or have moved.

The address deletions are to prevent the automated "matching" of your address with a disputed collection account that you are trying to have deleted.

If you have NOT moved in the past 6 years, you do not need to do the address deletions. If your credit is( and has been always) perfect and you want to continue to receive offers from CC Companies, then you do not need to opt out.

PLEASE HELP IN GUIDING ME TO THE NEXT STEP.....

Here's where I'm at:

TRANSUNION reported FFCC Collection and AMCA Collection -- AFTER HIPAA Letter deleted FFCC, did not address AMCA

per letter AMCA is either not in credit file or was already corrected

EQUIFAX reported FFCC Collection Only -- AFTER HIPAA Letter Equifax states that they verified this item belongs to me.

EXPERIAN reported FFCC Collection Only -- AFTER HIPAA Letter, Experian sent a very vague letter which seems to indicate that

they've verified the information.

Please advise which letter I should send next, and to whom.

THANK YOU for your advice and input.

Did you opt out and delete old addresses BEFORE sending the initial dispute letter??

Send this to any CA still reporting ( check your credit reports to make SURE they are still there)

http://whychat.5u.com/ltrcavalhipaa.html

You will need to send each reporting CA an individual letter for EACH CRA they are still reporting to, send them in the SAME CMRR envelope to save postage.

As soon as you have the green card back, send each CRA this:

Be sure to follow all directions as it is important to establish a "paper trail".

I did OPT-OUT, but I did NOT delete old addresses.

I have not moved in the past 4 years, and the 2 collection accounts were incurred while at my current residence.

Should I proceed as you indicated, or do I need to start over?

Good afternoon.

I don't seem to be having much luck.......

To recap, I'm trying to clear 1 medical collection reported by First Federal Credit Control on my Experian and Equifax Reports.

I have completed step 2 (sent letter CMRR to CA) and step 3 ( second letter to CRA when I got the green card back) of the HIPPA letter process.

So far I have only received a response from Experian stating that they have already investigated the information and that the credit grantor has verified its accuracy. I could go on with the entire response of the letter, but I'm sure this is relatively standard.

Equifax has yet to reply.

Can someone please suggest what my next step with Experian should be?

Sorry, but I should have also mentioned that the CA (FFCC) sent me a letter stating that they were contacted by the CRA regarding the status of my account. Basically, they want me to pay. Also included with the letter was a statement that was faxed by the OC to the CA stating the Patient Name, Address, Chart#, Case#. It also shows an original balance due of $120 on 8/7/2008 for OFFICE VISIT, and then it shows the $120 deducted on 5/31/2009 with a description saying COLLECTIONS. The result is a Total Account Balance to the OC of $ 0.00

Would this appear to satisfy the requirment of the OC having a relationship with the CA??

If so, how should I proceed?

Pay the OC with the HIPAA letter insert "a" be sure to follow ALL the directions.

Once the MONEY ORDER is deposited, send the follow up letter to the CRAs and a copy with the cover letter to the OC.

Should I wait until Equifax replies, or is it irrelevant?

If it is ONLY on Eq. and you have recently disputed with the initial HIPAA dispute, then of course wait as it may be deleted and your problem will be solved.
