How long for Sears Approval?

I need $1000 in tires from sears and remembered they had business credit, If I applied tomorrow how quick are their approvals? I need to get the tires one way or another but I dont want to get the trade if I am not going to use it and I plan on getting the tires on Saturday. Figured a new $1000 reported line could not hurt.

Not sure, I basically had the same question myself...noticing a new trend of cutting back on instant online approvals. But then again, nothing has been the same since the recession

I faxed my application for Sears on 10/7, and I just got my cards today. $6000 credit limit, so they are generous. They do not have an online app, fax in only.

 

I am not sure if you can use your account immediately in store, similar to Home Depot where they can look up your account prior to getting the cards.

You can use your account prior to receiving your cards. If you fax in your application today you could probably call on Thursday and have the answer. If approved you can just go get your tires. When they ring you up they will have to call the credit department and they can obtain your account number and additional info to complete the transaction. I did this on my first 2 purchases before I received the cards. I called and asked if we were approved over the phone and they told us yes. Simple process.

Totally forgot to send it but I just sent the application today. Requested $5000 which I dont think would be a problem since I have higher Citi gas limits. Maybe the tires will last me a few more days. If not I'll use a regular credit card but I like opportunities like this to build additional business credit.

 

I would have gotten them at Costco but they only carried one brand and style which fit my vehicle and I dont like Michelin tires. $250 a piece and last set wore out with less than 25,000 miles. Greywolf, How much did you request?

I callled today and they approved it for $7000, I also requested $5000 - How long did you leave in between your Sears and Key Bank? I guess I will try Key again and just do the PG but I dont want to raise any flags... I already have a lot of Citi accounts (Sears $7000, Sunoco $6000, Exxon Mobile $2000, Staples $2000, Office Depot $2000 & Home Depot $1000)

 

Dont want to push my luck since Key Bank also currently uses Citi Bank? Is that correct?

Yup, Key is Citi. I have been averaging 1-2 Citi accounts a month for the last 6 months, but never more than two a month.

 

The only Citi accounts I have been declined for is Home Depot net 30.

I think a few of us had an approval from Sears within 2 days. The cards can take a few weeks to arrive but your approval and ability to use the account only is a few days. You can use the account before your cards arrive in the mail.

They will only look up credit information on personal accounts. If I dont get the cards by the end of the week it will end up being another line I have no use for. I called sears credit and asked about using the account prior to my cards being received and they said it was up to the local store to decide.

They told that that because I added authorized names that they do not send out cards with this type of setup. They said the store needs to do a name lookup and that they will not be sending cards. Only way for them to send us a card is to remove the authorized users and have them send a card with no name. This makes no sense to me? Did you request a name on your card?

I requested four cards, with the company name printed on them, no people's name. They do have a way to setup the account so there are no cards issued, where they look up your account at the store.

Can you use your card on their website? Or only in store?

If a card is issued, you can use the card anywhere a normal Sear's card would be accepted. Sear's, Kmart, online etc. I just bought some stuff online, and saves $5 for using my Sear's card

What a waste this trade is... Saturday morning I call up sears again to complain about not getting any cards when I looked at my application and it says right there that each card holder will receive a unique card number... Now I have to fax them a request to correct the account even through everything was correct on the application I sent and they approved.

 

I told the woman I also needed to make a purchase tomorrow (Sunday) and she said it would not be a problem that the store can call sears credit and they will give them all the information they need for payment. The item that I needed was also at Best Buy for $200 cheaper so I bring my ad and we ring up the sale, they price match Best Buy and once we get to the credit information I tell them they need to call Sears credit. The rep calls Sears credit and they tell him he needs to get the information from the business department and they transfer him. He then looks at me and says... Sorry the message says they are closed and to call back on Monday. What a waste of my time... Just went to Best Buy and bought the item there.
