Bad News, TAB now uses Chex System

Just got an email about Chex Sytems, here it is:

Today i received some bad news from Trans Alliance Bank. I had opened and account with them a month ago and yesterday I forwarded another application to open a second business account. Well after going online checking my account status for my original account I noticed that my account balances were not correct therefore I called customer service and was told that I was run through checxsystems and my account was closed and that a Cashiers Check was being mailed out to me for my balance. Then I was asked how did I find out about their bank, which at that time I just stated from a relative that has been with them for some time. When I inquired why did the rep ask this of me I was told because there was a website out there telling people that they do not check chexsystems and that because of so many accounts being requested from non transpertation type businesses they are now running all applications through chexsystems and even on previouslly opened accounts.

This doesn't look good, anyone else actually have an account closed on them yet?

yes it is indeed a mess.. apparently a customer at an online company made a HUGE complaint that has caused all of this. (see email below) Although I understand how upset Jeremy was about this company charging him for information that can be found free online, he was wrong about gochecking. They do not sell the applicatiion. They simply sell my information and lists. Unfortunately this has caused TAB to look into it more and has now they have decided to review all accounts and close those that have chexsystems reports. I have emailed the VP to ask him why his accounts supervisor indicated that they used chexsystems in the past but were no longer using it about a year ago. I do not think this is fair for them to close these accounts under these circumstances for those that have current accounts in good standings.

 

This is probably because of my call to their vice president. I told you some time ago I got conned by a website gochecking.com, only to receive a link to the TAB application. After they refused to refund me my money I contacted TAB to let them know that their application is being "sold" and if they had given permission for this. See.... technically that application is their intellectual property and they are looking to protect it as such.

I'm sorry to have closed this option for those in need, but there are lots more banks out there , even for those on chex.

I have heard nothing more other than yes they do use chexsystems now and have closed accounts
