Denied because of Credit Report

I just applied to open a checking account with Community America Credit Union, they are found in Kansas and Missouri, mostly the Kansas City Metro area.

 

I was denied because of negative issues on my credit report. I owed money to a hospital. So, it appears even banks and credit unions that do not use chex, telecheck, EWS, are not a sure thing anymore.

It really depends on the credit union but you are correct, many banks and credit unions that say they will run a credit report will look at your credit to determine if you are eligible for an account while others will use it for identity purposes only

Do you have information on which banks use credit reports for eligibility versus identity?

no I don't ... I know a few here and there that are reported to me
