I got a settlement offer today from Firstsource to pay $262 instead of the $1300 I owe a local hospital.

I called them and said I'm willing to pay but I want the stuff deleted from my credit report if I paid. The woman put me on hold then said we could delete 3 of the 4, but the 4th one was reported to us in 2007, and that it has to be with them? or on my report? for 4 years, before they could delete it. They could update it to $0 balance, paid by settlement.

The accounts they have down, the service dates were 06/14/05, 07/02/05, 07/04/05, and 8/25/06. I'm in TX, and I believe SOL is 4 yrs, so aren't 3 of those out of SOL anyway, and they aren't allowed to collect the amount anymore?

I have never made a payment on these accounts.

Make sure you have opted out:

Delete any old address if you have moved within the last 8-10 years

Send any CRA that is reporting the medical Collection this:

You can list all accounts in one letter, the settlement offer from the CA is a last ditch effort to squeeze some money out of you don't fall for it. Don't speak with the CA anymore.

Medical has a 4 SOL, hospitals can be a little sticky, as unpaid debts can be subsidies by the government.

Texas also has some really awesome consumer protection laws when it comes to CA, if you aren't familiar with these laws I would really read up on them, If I lived in Texas I would. There is a huge thread in the credit forum with some really great information in it.
